Hello! This is titled "How to prevent colds and the flu."
Because the flu can make you feel very sick, here are some ways to prevent getting sick.
Teach your children about healthy habits. Be a good role model. They will learn from you.
First, get your flu vaccine.
The flu vaccine is the best way to prevent getting the flu.
Ask your health care provider for a flu shot or the nasal spray flu vaccine every year.
The flu vaccine is not the same every year because the virus changes every year.
This means last year's vaccine will not protect you for this year's flu season.
Every year, scientists must develop and create a new vaccine.
If the vaccine is not available yet, ask your doctor's office when they will have it.
Usually the vaccine is available in late fall, October or November.
But even if it is now January or March, get your flu vaccine.
Second, take care of yourself. Keep your body strong and healthy.
A strong immune system can help prevent infections.
Make sure you get plenty of sleep, exercise regularly, reduce the stress and worry in your life.
Drink plenty of water and other fluids and eat a well balanced diet,
including foods like fruit, vegetables, fish, and others.
Third, avoid flu germs.
Stay away from people you think may have the flu or a cold.
Don't go near them if possible.
Finally, it is important to prevent you and others from getting sick at home, school, or work.
To do this, wash your hands often with soap and water or a hand sanitizer.
Also, disinfect surfaces to clean and kill flu germs with a bleach and water solution.
We must be aware of flu germs. They're there!
Thank you!
