Good morning, everyone! We made it to Missouri, in two and a half days.
It was quite a long drive. This morning I'm out doing farm chores with my dad, so let's
get started. Me: So you scoop out the stalls every day?
Dad: yep. Every morning. Me: And then, what do you do with all this
that's out here? Dad: Haul it out in the field and spread it
around. Me: So it's good fertilizer, then?
Dad: Yeah. Me: Very cool. So I guess if I get some animals,
I'm gonna have to learn how to do this, huh? Dad: yeah.
Me: That's my dad. He's taking the cow in to get water. He doesn't want to go on the
other side. (laughing) He's trying to drink through the fence instead of go around?
Dad: yep. Me: Will it get it's head caught in there?
should we put one on each side, maybe? Dad: We could.
Me: That's funny. That's the big one.
Here's little baby. Number thirty-five. "Hi, Baby!"
(to goat) Good morning, Lilly, how are you today?
Come here, girl, come here. Are you hungry? Are you calling Grandpa, huh?
Alright, let's check your water and make sure it's not frozen.
That's the milking stanchion, here's her water bucket, it's been freezing. Yep it is frozen
over, so I'm going to go (dog barking) *** it on something and um then fill it up with
fresh water.
Alright, so, um, we've been here... Oh, there's hay in front of there... Let's try that.
Alaright, hi! Good morning! It's about I don't know, about eight o'clock on the farm. I've
been here at mom and dad's for... about a week now, almost? And um, one thing I've learned
is that I need work gloves. Cause these? Just don't cut it. So today I think I'm gonna make
a trip in to town and get some nice leather work gloves.
It's been cold, so the animal's water has been freezing over. So I have Lilly - the
goat's- water, so I'm gonna break it up, if I can.
I'll break it up. Just by dumping it on the ground like that.
There you go! Easy, peasy! Now, I'm going over to the house to fill it,
come back with fresh water. It's not so bad for the goat, it's pretty
close to the house. The cows are down the hill.
Carrying two big buckets of water, one for each of the calves, is kind of a chore.
So it's gotten me to think that when we start looking for farm properties, the distance
between the house and the out buildings is something I want to pay attention to.
Since, probably, farm animal things is gonna mostly fall to me. The girls are doing school,
and um, Chris has other stuff (goat bleating) he's gotta do. So, that's something to think
about. I'm gonna get Lilly some water. Talk to y'all
in a bit!
