What I’ve accomplished this year is building a more respectful and inclusive community
with my residents inside of Carey Hall. I got offered my dream internship as a photographer
in Salt Lake City, Utah. I’ve accomplished a new found confidence by working with the
Special Events Committee at the Volunteer Center. I survived my first trip down the
Chip River, even though my tube popped. I got an A in Anatomy this semester. I had the
opportunity to lay down some sweet drum tracks in CMU’s recording studio. I went to Honduras
on an Alternative Break and provided medical care. I selected my major and found direction
in my life. I got accepted into Teach for America, and I’m heading to Los Angeles,
California teaching science. This year I successfully did not have a class before 10 A.M. My accomplishment
this semester is bringing campus programming fund reform to the Board of Trustees. I started
Grad School. I beat Cancer. This year, I joined Fish N’ Chips. This year I joined Lunch
Buddies. I joined the Ultimate Frisbee team. Me and my fraternity, we were the only fraternity
on campus to participate in the Adopt a Family, Go Betas. As a Greek Community, we raised
over 22 thousand dollars in one week. I survived Chemistry even though a pumpkin exploded in
class. I spent three months in Alaska working for the National Park Service taking photos.
I maintained a 4.0 this semester. I received enough Scholarships to make spending the Spring
Semester in France less expensive than it would have been to stay in Mount Pleasant.
As part of Leadership Safari, we welcomed 2000 new students to CMU this year. In 2013,
I was a full time student, had an internship, and planned a wedding. I had the opportunity
to facilitate positive social change on campus, in the community, and the world, through Education
Service and Citizenship, and I’m a CMU Chippewa.
