this is the flower, that we will be working on in this tutorial
this is the type of yarn I am using for this flower
this is the yarn I used with this flower
which is what I will be using in the demonstration
you can see the flowers come out about the same size
I will be using a size G/4.24mm crochet hook
you can use a larger size crochet hook to make a larger flower
we will start with a slip knot
take the loose end, wrap it over the main strand
take the loop, wrap it over the main strand
put your hook below the center strand, back up the opposite side
this creates the slip knot
chain six
join with the beginning chain
chain 1, this will not be counted as a stitch
work one half double crochet through the loop
chain 7
slip stitch in the top of the half double crochet
this is what we have after the slip stitch
work two half double crochet
through the center of the loop
chain 7
join with a slip stitch
in the half double crochet
work two more half double crochet
chain 7
slip stitch in the top of the last half double crochet
work two more half double crochet
chain 7
work a slip stitch in the top of the half double crochet
work two more half double crochet

work a slip stitch in the top of the last half double crochet

we have completed three petals
there are three more to work
they will be the same working twelve half double crochet, in the remaining loops
The six petals are complete
join with the beginning half double crochet
wrap the yarn over the hook, pull through
cut the yarn, pull through to secure
we will be working with the first color
attach the yarn to round one, working between the stitches
chain one
work a single crochet
working between the stitches
we will be adding another round
typically I would work below both loops at the top of the stitch
that is not what we will be doing
there is a loop behind the stitches
the top of the stitch will be left unworked
pick up the loop behind the stitch
work one single crochet
working behind the stitch
pick up the loop behind the stitch
working a single crochet
this is the front
this the back loop
work the single crochet
this effect pushes the loops at the top of the stitch to the front
this is the same as the rib stitch
we are working behind the stitch
"work in the loop behind the stitch" is another term you may come across
work one single crochet in loop behind the stitch - for a total of twelve
when you get around to the bottom of the petal
work an extended single crochet, this means pulling up and working it looser
move on to the next petal
working in the loop behind the stitch
this the front, I am working in the loop behind the stitch
working between the petals
work a long, extended single crochet between the petals
continue around, working in the remaining petals
the edging is complete
join with the beginning stitch
pull the yarn through, cut the yarn
the cheerful crochet flower is complete
