The role of a social worker is to help
anybody at any stage in their life, be them adult, child,
an old person, a person with a disability,
be it from emotion help,
physical help,
that's when the roles of a social worker steps in.
I think they are really challenging us
all the way through this course
because they know that to be a social worker
its not going to be an easy path.
You know your going to be challenged as a professional ever day
of your career, and so they're gearing us up for that.
To be able to broaden your own
horizons and opinions is very important
and to be able to acknowledge
that you can do that even if you can say, this is my view,
you're not going to change it.
But to still turn around and say, but I will listen to it.
I've been really impressed with the lecturers.
Yeah me too actually, I've had a really good experience with all the lecturers.
Especially during placement last year I felt I was really supported by my tutor.
The contact is there, by email you can always get them.
They are very approachable and they’ve also worked extensively in the field in which we are
going into, so you get the feeling
that they have the experience to
back up what they are
talking about.
Really knowledgeable tutors.
It’s got a fantastic library.
The people in my course are fantastic,
we are really supportive of each over.
You’re going to have three different placements by the end of it,
so at the end of
the course you should have an idea of what kind of thing your interested, I think, in working in.
But also it’s an opportunity to network, I suppose,
and make contacts for the future.
It’s good to apply
the theory to practise.
You can sit in a classroom and say you learned so much, but until it’s actually applied.
It given you a broader outlook as well and more experience for when you actually are qualified.
