What’s up guys, Jason here and thanks for watching TFX. And as we continue coverage
of the Best of E3 2012, today we bring you possibly the most anticipated trailer of the
entire event, which is our first real look at Halo 4. Now, the trailer starts off with
a live action element that sets the stage for what basically looks like a page right
out of Star Trek, meaning Earth is now sending it’s warships out on peaceful missions into
space for the old “seek out new life and new civilization” bit. Of course, things
quickly turn bad as the ship gets attacked by the Forerunners and crash lands just right
near our hero, who lucky for them, just happened to arrive a short time before. Yeah, don’t
you just love how little plot points like that work themselves out so nicely? The next
thing you notice is that, the Covenant do in fact return, which I was a little surprised
by. I figured with that storyline being wrapped up in Halo 3, we’d get an entirely new set
of enemies but it looks like they will make a return, which makes you wonder if this leaves
the door open for a new form of The Flood to return as well. Gameplay wise, I was totally
blown away. A few things that stand out are the graphics and the presentation. With Cortana
and some of the cut scenes popping up inside your heads up display, it gives it more of
a PC feel and visually, it looks like I’m playing a PC game that’s for sure. This
could end up being one of the best looking shooters you’ll see on this Generation of
consoles. Also, the tech looks really sweet but also familiar. Since its Forerunner, you’ll
notice that many of your weapons fire a beam that looks strikingly similar to the lasers
used by the sentinels during the original trilogy inside the Halo installations. Not
to mention here, the enemies seem pretty bad *** and the AI looks to be boosted up, as
at one point an enemy catches your grenade in midair and lobs it right back at you. So,
I definitely can’t wait to see more from Halo 4 after E3 concludes to see where we
go from here.
