For the P2H4 Lewis structure
Phosphorous is in Group 5 or 15, is has
five valence electrons but we have Phosphorus atoms a nd then we have Hydrogen
with one valence electyron but we have four hydrogen atoms.
that gives us a total 14 valence electrons
for the P2H4 Lewis structure. Hydrogen atoms always go
on the outside of Lewis structures so were goint to put the two phosphorus atoms
in the center and will surround them with hydrogen atoms.
We have a total 14 valence electrons for the P2H4 Lewis structure.
We'll put two valence electrons
between the Phosphorus atoms and Hydrogens to form chemical bonds.
We've used to 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
and we'll complete the octets on the Phosphorous atoms, 12 and 14. prosperous 12 and
So we've used all 14 valence electrons for the P2H4 Lewis structure.
Each of the Hydrogents has has two valence electrons
so that's all they need to have a full outer shell. And each of the Phosphorus atoms
has eight valence electrons. So the octets are complete for the Phosphorus atoms.
So that's Lewis structure P2H4,
