Hi, this is Joelle Meijer.
I will show you how to prepare your own play dough.
In a large bowl, put one cup of flour, half a cup of salt
and two tablespoon of cream of tartar and mix them together with a wooden spoon.
Then add one tablespoon of vegetable oil and half a cup of water
and mix to make a dough that is firm yet soft and elastic.
The dough should not stick or crumble.
If the dough is sticky, that means that there is not enough flour.
In this case, gradually add a little bit of flour.
If the dough crumbles, that means that there is not enough water.
In this case, gradually add a little bit of water.
When you are satisfied, you can use the dough "as is",
or you can divide it and colour it with food colouring.
You can also use spices or Kool-Aid to add colour to the dough.
In that case, add the spice or the Kool-Aid in your water
and prepare one colour at a time.
To keep the dough, put it in sealed containers in the fridge until the next use.
Play dough is a great source of creativity for children.
Give them lots of gadgets and they will have fun creating for hours at a time.
To spread the dough, take a round piece of wood and roll it on the dough.
Create different shapes and forms by hand or use a plastic knife
to cut the dough into the desired shapes.
You can also use cookie cutters to cut out some forms.
A plastic fork can give interesting textures. Have you ever tried?
By using the tines of the fork vertically, you can make small holes
and when you rub the tines of the fork on the dough, you will be creating grooves.
Have you ever experimented with a garlic press?
The garlic press can make hair for your play dough figures, grass
or even a plate of spaghetti.
Certain household objects or toys can also be used to make impressions on clay.
You can also buy sets of accessories that allow you to further explore
the possibilities of clay.
In addition to developing fine motor skills, clay opens the door
to lots of related activities that I hope to introduce to you in other videos.
