With a history dating back thousands of years, therapeutic massage is used to
treat specific injuries,
as well as to promote general well-being, by manipulating muscles
and other bodily tissues therapeutic massage is often employed as a form of
complementary healthcare.
BCC EHealth careers massage therapy students are afforded many different
employment opportunities.
A licensed massage therapist can work alongside medical doctors
and chiropractors, in spas, holistic centers and health clubs
and often they choose to be self-employed by opening their own
private practices.
Current health care professionals can also enhance their skill set by becoming
licensed in massage therapy.
As a key component of complementary healthcare, obtaining a license in
massage therapy
increases the expertise of practicing professionals.
In BCC's EHealth careers program, students must complete 29 credits to achieve a
certificate in therapeutic massage.
This is generally accomplished within two semesters. "It's been fun.
Like, I can't believe it's gone by so fast and I've learned
so much and I feel like really confident right now."

program before and they have been really successful in the program so

and it's really helped out." In order to enter the therapeutic massage program any
health careers,
a high school diploma or equivalent is required with a grade of C minus or
better
in either biology or chemistry, as well as algebra 1.
