i want to take a look at how to add text to our shapes. So, we'll need some shapes out there
i'm going to add a rectangle with rounded corners
and a regular rectangle
and this one
i'm going to rotate
ninety degrees
let's also add cloud
and a puzzle piece
up till now when i want to add text to a shape
i would click on the shape
and type in my text
and that works pretty well when there's no other text already in that shape
now that I already have text in my shape
i want to add some more
so i select my shape
and start taking
clouds i added an s on the right
let's go back puzzle
and change that to a puzzle
it just happened
to place my cursor on the left of puzzle and
on the right when i wanted to make clouds sometimes it works the other way
around
there should be another way than to just doubleclick in place the cursor right
where we want to start editing our text
and there is a way to do that
that's over on the options toolbar
we see doubleclick to edit text
with that selected now if I go over to clouds and i want to start
editing right in the middle
of doubleclick
any my cursor is right in the middle
now let's try that with the puzzle piece
i'm going to click once to select
then i'm going to double-click
to place the cursor
and i'm going to take out that a
so once it's selected
double clicking will place me right in the text right were my arrow is
you might be thinking
wasn't double clicking would put us into location mode
actually it's just clicking a second time put this into rotation mode
here we see the red handles because i clicked again
clicking back
we're back into just selection mode
double clicking
puts us into text edit and since i didn't have the arrow
over to text it just put me to the far right
so that does the same thing as when i started typing this puts me to one of
the sides
now i want to change my puzzle to say puzzle piece
that looks pretty good, but
it would look better if i had piece
below Puzzle
to do that
i'm going to double-click
and i just hit enter
that takes me down to another line
and to take that back to one line
hit the deck space
at the beginning of this video i kept this rectangle and rotated it ninety
degrees
now i'm going to take into text and see how that works
it looks a little off
but once I click to take us out of text edit mode
we see the text is rotated ninety degrees with the shape
down on our draw toolbar we've got this text icon
when I click that
it looks like i'm just adding in the box
but if we look a little closer we see that are outline is made up of diagonal lines
when i click on the rectangle
we just have the straight lines
If I turn on my styles
and select my text icon i can make it similar
to the rectangles
given at the default but we still see those guidelines when its elected
let's give this back the style of text
and selecting
we can move this text just like we do our shapes
we can rotate it
just like we do our shapes
and now it looks just like part of our rotated rectangle
