Hi, I'm Lorraine Wochna Alden Library Reference and Instruction.
This video will show you how to find scholarly full-text article using Articles Plus
Finding scholarly articles using Articles Plus. How do I find scholarly articles and even better
can I narrow them down to full text so I can read them immediately?
Yes you can. But first lets do a quick overview of a scholarly article
also referred to as peer reviewed, or academic articles.
Some things that make them different from any other kind of article is title, authors,
abstract, introduction, article text, conclusions, and references, or works cited.
These are things you should look for when you are reading a scholarly article.
In Articles Plus, I'm going to do a search on money and happiness.
Search. We'll probably get quite a few.
Over 8,000 results for money and happiness.
but right below, notice "refine your results". Underneath here is an ability to click on full text,
click on scholarly peer-reviewed journals and update.
that will take the amount of resources I found down quite a bit to 743.
and they will all be full-text and they will all be scholarly peer-reviewed.
You noticed they're in PDF and sometimes not. For example, the first one is in a PDF
which is right over on your left side. If this article sounds good to you you can print it, email it or save it to your local drive.
I'll go back to my results list. I see here that there are some
that don't have PDFs and they just use the word "find it with linksource"
So give that a try. It opens up an information widow
that puts your citation at the top and tells you if full-text is available anywhere else
in our library database. In this case it's available from OhioLink's Electronic Journal Center.

when we narrow down to scholarly articles and full-text
These are the easiest and quickest ways to locate a scholarly article, but it's not always that easy
and that's what we're here for. So if you have questions don't forget to ask us.
