>> The Renault Duster is a compact SUV that creating a new segment in the market. It comes
in 8 variants, two petrol and six diesel, priced between 7.19 lakh rupees and 11.29
lakh rupees. Here’s a quick look at the Duster. It has
traditional SUV lines, although it’s based on the Renault Logan platform. Twin barrel
headlamps, attractive chrome grille and muscular fenders make it look quite imposing. At the
rear, the design looks quite unique. Overall, it’s an attractive design
The version you’re seeing here is the RxZ 110 – the top-end version. It comes with
a 1.5 litre 108 bhp diesel engine that puts out 248 Nm of torque, with a six-speed manual
transmission. Claimed fuel efficiency is 19 kilometers per litre.
The Duster has a decent level of features which include an integrated music system with
USB and Aux-in as well as Bluetooth, electric mirrors with the switch oddly placed near
the handbrake, wood finish on the doors and a powerful AC with a separate rear AC control.
Legroom is adequate in the rear-seat – comparable with most sedans, except the Sunny. The boot
can swallow 475 litres of luggage. It also is nicely concealed with a parcel tray that’s
standard on all variants. We expect the Duster to attract sedan buyers
because of its huge ground clearance and frugal diesel engine. It’s not as roomy as the
Scorpio or Safari, but it will make for a good urban SUV.
