Below the clear blue waters of Kauai is a thriving reef, teeming with marine life, including
thousands of fish, some found nowhere else in the world. For a little facetime with these
colorful creates, enjoy a snorkel and dive charter that will take you across the Kalakahi
channel to Hawaii’s forbidden island of Ni’ihau. Across the Kalakahi channel, 18
miles southwest of Kauai, is an island called Ni’ihau. It is the smallest of the inhabited
Hawaiian islands, and is known as the Hawaiian forbidden island. Sold in 1863 by King Kamehameha
IV, the island has remained privately owned for the sole purpose of maintaining the traditional
Hawaiian way of life. Along the way, you’re bound to encounter anything, like pods of
dolphins to spectacular sights like this. Because it is a privately owned island, you
cannot land on Ni’ihau. But what you can do is grab your snorkel gear, or even a dive
tank, and dive in. We took a cruise to the forbidden island of Ni’ihau, followed it
along the shore and saw amazing shapes of the islands. I actually loved it so much I
want to do it again. We actually went up the Na Pali coast, came over to Ni’ihau, saw
Lehua island, it was really nice. Nice day. I would definitely recommend this to our friends.
people can visit the island, it’s forbidden. It’s kinda special. It’s a real privilege
to come out here and visit. We’d like to send out a very special mahalo to the good
crew at Blue Dolphin Charters for taking us out today, to sightsee, snorkel and relax
as we got up close and personal with the forbidden island of Ni’ihau.
