Hi I'm Max Buffington, I'm a Volunteer Ranger here at Patapsco Valley State Park, and I'd
like to welcome you here today for a first day hike.
Now this is pretty much the site of the original dam here at Daniels.
This dam was put in place in the early 1900s. It is 250 feet long, it's about 25 feet high.
This is one my favorite spots in the park. I think of it as a hidden jewel.
This whole valley has artifacts and history of the railroad and the mills and use of the
river and the resources of the valley. I didn't even know it was here. So it was very interesting.
It's really wonderful to see all the hiking trails and all of the possibility of getting
outdoors.
I try to hike at least three to four times a year.
I just recently retired and want to get doing a little more exercise and I thought this
would be a good way to get started.
Come and hike with us. There are many trails out here to be discovered.
Don't forget - every day is a good day to hike.
