Eighth notes on the snare drum, very simple. They're relative to the quarter note. The
quarter note is one, two, three, four. The eighth notes are twice as fast. So now you
have eight per measure. One and two and three and four and. It's very simple, I just want
to stress the importance of learning how to do some basic reading as a drummer. Because
it's just going to open up a lot more doors for you and that way you can get a method
book and you can teach a lot of this stuff to yourself. Therefore when you go get a drum
lesson, or if you're working on something else, it just makes everything make more sense
and a lot easier. So I definitely recommend learning to read at least a little bit and
then you'll realize it's not as hard as most people think it is. So eighth notes are just
one and two and three and four and. Now I'm going to do one measure of quarter notes followed
by one measure of eighth notes, back to quarter notes so you get the point. So it's one and
two and three and four and. One and two and three and four and. One and two and three
and four. So hopefully that makes sense.
