Hi I'm Holly. Hi I'm Cathy and today we're filming the University of Exeter's open day.
Deciding what university to go to is really hard, we've both been there, so hopefully
this video will help you make your decision.
This is the Forum and it's the hub of campus.
During the open day all the student support services have a stall right behind us.
You can find information on sporting opportunities music and the library. The chaplaincy services,
the Wellbeing services and financial services are all here to talk to you about your university life.
So this is all the stuff that really enhances your life at Exeter on top of your studies.
There's information points everywhere about funding, about what sort of lectures you
can have, about different modules and there's actually sample lectures up in the Peter Chalk
Centre, and everyone's so friendly so just go and ask them anything and everyone will
be really nice and answer any questions you have.
So here we are outside Building One and this is where the accommodation tours run from.
The accommodation tours are led by student ambassadors just like ourselves which is really great
coz they can tell you a little bit about what their experiences were like living in student halls.
Today as a student ambassador I am running
tours of the campus so we are basically showing the potential students around one side of
the university. We're showing them some potential accommodation, where their lectures might
be held, some of the more relaxing parts of campus - we have a beautiful park by Reed
Hall, which is a botanical garden - and we are just trying to give them a feel for what it
would be like to be a student on campus.
So we're at the Piazza now which is at the centre
of campus and this is where the student campus tours run from. The campus tours, like
the accommodation tours are led by student ambassadors which is really great because
they really show you the parts of campus that matter to you as a student.
There's a great atmosphere on campus at the moment with lots of people looking round,
and it gives you a real feel for what it's like to be at the university.
So today I'm giving campus tours so that means when all the people come off the bus
I have to show them round and I'm giving quite a brief tour of the campus and giving them an
introduction into, you know, the main kind of things around. And then after that of course
they're free to explore the campus on their own terms.
So we're now in the Peter Chalk Centre at the subject fair. This is a great opportunity
to meet current students and lecturers and find out some handy tips and the sorts of
things they might be looking for in personal statements. Talking to current students and
your future lecturers gives you an invaluable insight into your course, beyond what you
read on the website or in brochures. It's an opportunity to make an instant connection
with them rather than sending them an email.
I'm Annabel .I've come from just north of London,
St Albans and I'm interested in doing flexible combined honours economics and psychology.
I've really enjoyed the open day just going round all of the talks and finding out more
information which has been really good for helping me decide what I want to do.
Hi I'm Josh, I'm from Derbyshire. I want to study theology at Exeter. The open day's been
really helpful for this because I've been able to look at the course that I want to do,
I've been able to see what the course entails and how I can structure that to what
I want to do with the course personally. We've been to a few open days and this is
one of our favourites so far, we've been to different parts of the country and we love
the campus - everyone's been really helpful, very useful with information, it was nice
to see the halls and the academic side, so very good, thank you.
We hope this video's been insightful and shown you what the open days at the University of Exeter
are like. We think it's really valuable if you can come here and experience it for yourself.
We love studying here, we love the university and we know that you will too.
