Now before we go ahead with some advanced scratches, it's probably best to review the
beginner scratches. Ready? Let's go! The first 4 or 5 beginner scratches we learned were
the baby scratch-just moving the record back and forth; the chirp, which is the baby scratch
with one click in the theater. We also learned to release the sample and go back to the beginning.
Remember to get right back to the beginning of the sample. We also learned some basic
combinations, like the baby scratch with the chirp. We also learned the tip, which is the
just the tip of the sample, a very fast baby scratch and the backwards tear, which only involves your record hand. Now
it's important to remember to practice all of these things very, very slowly and be very,
very patient, which just like any other instrument the more practice you put into it the better
result you're going to get.
