Its been the stage of dramatic scenes in its time, but this time the drama unfolded off

United's stadium after the discovery of a suspect package just before the team were
due to play AFC Bournemouth An "operation code red" was issued and bomb
disposal experts arrived at the scene.
Outside a tight security cordon was imposed as a controlled explosion was carried out
by what later turned out to be a training device left by a private company.
Perhaps one of the oldest fans that was forced to leave, this 90 year old lady had never
seen anything like this in her 60 years of following united
Despite fan disappointment, the slickness and efficiency of the operation didn't go
unnoticed
Eventually the all clear was given only later did it emerge that the fake device had been
left during a training exercise with sniffer dogs
There are calls for an urgent enquiry into the incident.
The exercise caused massive alarm and disruption… forcing the last match of an eventful season
to be rescheduled
And leaving probing questions about who's responsible.
