We are a Swedish company. We started aleady five years ago.
We started as a technology company and we invented this
new way of
using a peer to peer network,
but in a managed way.
If you manage a peer to peer network, you get a
tremendous amount of resources.
Until today, we are
operating our service mostly in Europe
but we are now opening up
for the rest of the world
And we have roughly 1.3 million users
in five countries in Europe.
And we are still not using any video servers!
Only our technology.
We're very happy with that.
What we do is that we build what we call the
LifeShelf...
that's more like an infrastructure.
You could say that it is like
a DVD bookshelf that you place next to your TV. But behind these shelves.
We are totally open
to any content holder. They could place their content.. to
on these shelf positions to any .
user
We have a device-agnostic platform, so you could
acesss this content from any kind of device.
Our content today....
We are filling our shelves as we speak...
...but most of the content today
are in Scandinavia...
where we have roughly
4 000 titles.
Here in Korea, we have a limited catalog now
But
we will fill up soon.
It was very recently, so we don't have clear numbers
yet
but from the amount of attention we have seen so far
from media and
from the social network communities
etc, it has been very positive.
And obviously very focused
on us being the first service in the world that embrace legal sharing.
And you should remember that we are
talking about ViewShare- it's not file share.
Filesharing is not good. No one likes that. It is replication
of assets
ViewShare, however
is very natural
When you are watching
television together with some friends, you are ViewSharing...so
What we want to do is to bring this natural behavior,
that already is out there
especially in countries like South
Korea, which like Sweden has.very high internet penetration and
very good bandwidth
This behaviour is out there. We want to bring the tools into
a legal environment
so you don't have to do all this stuff
in the illegal environment.
It works like this:
Everything is for free.
You can upload any amount of content.
you can upload, of course, any content you have produced
yourself
like your skiing vacation
in Switzerland
Now why would you upload that?
Because then you get
cloud access to your
content.
You can share it with your friends and you can show it .
on
any device
You can also upload all content that you have
acquired yourself.
Maybe I bought an old DVD
or a film on some online site..
all this
thigns,
all this content you can share
once you start to watch
any
ViewShare-invite...
you have to become a premium subscriber.
And this subscription fee
or this premium fee, we have
chosen a very low price point, so it is roughly the same price
as one online rental movie.
It's about
About five euros or six dollars. For this you can watch unlimited ViewShare.
and this ViewShare revenue, we share with the
film studios.
People watch as many movies today as before, probably even more, but
Hollywood has 6 million dollars less revenue.
Where has all this money gone to?
Of course it's to illegal viewing.
so we monetize on
viewing that, frankly speaking, would have taken place on the piracy.
You solve this... you fight piracy by offering something that is
more convenient and better
Our technology gives a very good quality.
We are streaming HD of course, but also
Dolby Surround Sound...
which is kind of strange because
any
old dvd disc
has
Dolby Surround Sound,
but now there are very few streaming services with that.
I want to have
Facebook or Instagram-like spread of Voddler LiveShelf
This is the goal.
to get them out there
to as
many devices as possible.
in particular Asia, I think, is very interesting, because
there are other territories outside South Korea,
that has a much more fragmented in Internet
bandwidth picture, and
that is where our technology
fits perfectly
Since Korea is similar to what Sweden is in Europe
in being in forefront technology-wise.
I think you have even higher internet penetration
and average bandwidth than Sweden,
which is amazing.
I believe that creates, very much, a forefront in Asia.
We will monitor vthe behavior
in Korea
and then learn
how to tune this service
for the rest of Asia.
I really look forward to
bringing as much content as possible to your market
and hope that
you will like it
