Hello Internet user, I'm Sandro Miranda and this is the 13th edition of Panzine.
It's winter in Canada, in this edition we will talk about Canadians.
Can we generalize about Canadians? How can we describe one.
He/she doesn't hit his chest and scream out loud 'my country is the best in the world', no way,
But he's very receptive and enjoys a good chat and is agains the war,
Even though the minority conservatives' political agenda is following the...
Republican neighbours south of the border.
Canadians love hockey, they are open to multiculturalism and live under extreme weather conditions.
And speak two official languages. And now… Panzine.
I'm not American, I'm Canadian.
Canadians apologize even when they do nothing wrong.
This is Canada. You travel to British Columbia, or to Calgary and you go to the Rockies.
On the other hand, when you go to the east, New Brunswick for example,
My business partner came from there. You can feel what's like to be among Canadians deep within the provinces.
The Canadians I know are from Toronto.
They live their own lives,
One of the things I believe about Canadians from Toronto...
Is that they don't feel the need to know exactly what they really are.
Perhaps this is something new in the world, and everybody will have to face it...
Suffering or enjoying this situation.
Brazilians don't respect other cultures the way Canadians do, keeping them intact.
We adopt a more 'anthropophagic' way - Tupi or not Tupi!
Consuming that culture, turning it into our culture.
I believe the Canadians I know are very open to other cultures, one thing the Americans don't have.
Explaining why 'We're not Americans' to present themselves as Canadians...
Is not what I believe. It is not fair to make that comparison, based on values that Canada has.
I Believe the Quebec crisis is not as strong and rebel as it was long ago.
But once awhile it reappears again.
The French-Canadian started to see they were becoming another minority in Canada.
Like the Italians, the Portuguese, the Guatemala Latin-Americans, etc, etc.
And that was exactly why I was captivated by this culture. People are very open and polite.
You are able to see people from around the globe.
That was what attracted me here, what made me move from Boston to Toronto.
Where I spent 4 months, became fluent in English and returned to Brazil.
After all of that I wanted to come back because I knew what Canada was like.
I didn't dream in Brazil to come to Canada, I knew this place.
I dreamed about USA, from where I moved away, them my dream came true here.
