Hi, this is Allison Rapp and today is day 55 of our video challenge to help you get
the practice you want by finding the clients who are already looking for you. And I believe
they are out there looking for you. I’ve been asked to talk more about self-confidence,
and I decided today to do that in relation to comparison, because comparison is a human
tendency; we all do it, and it’s really detrimental to self-confidence.
Just think of who we tend to compare ourselves to—people who have more money, more clients,
better results, bigger workshops, people whose skills we think are better than ours, and
people who make us feel bad about ourselves, not because of anything they did, but because
of what we do with that information.
Now here’s the thing: There are people, that you’re already working with, who make
you feel good about your practice. They make you feel like you have something to give,
like they get something from the lessons, and like you’re contributing something to
their lives. Those people, you need to find more of, because those are the people who
are waiting for you.
Those people are not looking for the other people who have a different practice; your
practice is based on who you are, your unique gifts, and the incredible handwriting that
you’re creating out of your own life, with this work that we share. And when you focus
on those people, and realize how good they make you feel, your self-confidence will just
keep going up. And as it goes up, you’ll find that you can increase your skills naturally
to work with more people of wider difficulty and, again, your confidence will go up.
So it’s not about comparing yourself to people who have a different life, a different
skill set, a different anything—even if they’re doing Feldenkrais work. Just focus
on yourself and what you have to offer. And let those people who are out there, looking
for you and not for anybody else, find you.
Thanks so much for coming today. I look forward to seeing you here again tomorrow. Bye-bye.
