The band and myself we had 500 and some miles coming in from Salt Lake City. We arrived
at a few minutes to 8 and they're just now checking out of the hotel, getting on the buses and coming up here.
Whew! Holy Mackerel!
I'm excited to be here!
Really nice!
This is great!
Man, this is cool isn't it!
Welcome to Red Rocks!
This particular place, it is so spectacular. When you see it lit, when you see the rocks
lit, mmm the backstage all lit, and then eventually I will take you backstage into my dressing
room to show you what they have done in there 'cuz it is a cave! Now c'mon, you've
got to see my dressing room, it's really hot! They didn't take the cave out of the
cave. All this stuff is new. Look how beautiful it looks. We uh, it's the coolest dressing
room there is. You know what it reminds me of? It reminds me of Santorini.
Are you guys in a cave too?
No.
Nah.
No.
Ah you guys gotta go and see my dressing room. Welcome to Red Rocks. Sounds great. Wow. It's
been, I don't know, 20 years probably. In the old days when we played we had to walk
all the way from up there, come down here. You didn't drive into your dressing room.
Oh yeah, they're hot, oh yeah, that's hot. You know what they do when they get hot?
They stop playing. I hate that. It scares the heck out of me. Playing outdoors, it's
not a script. It's like you'd better get ready for anything.
I'm Brian. I'm general manager for Aramark. I work here at Red Rocks.
Very Nice to meet you.
Welcome back.
I'm Steve, I work for the city of Denver. I'm the manager for all of the events here.
Great.
Now the acoustics here..
The acoustics are awesome.
They're fantastic. They're just fantastic. And that's all because of the sandstone
that's up in these mountains.
The sound should be absolutely spectacular 'cuz it also leaves. It's clean. It doesn't
bounce back. They have a nice clean shot. It bounces off the sides a little bit so it
gives you a nice reverberation and then it leaves, it goes up and it goes out the back.
There's no back wall to send it back to you.
Well yeah.
Slightly ancient.
Greek amphitheatres.
Well that's where this came from. A guy named George Cramer was the guy who bought
it for the city back in 1937 and he actually got the idea from when he was in Sicily at
the Greek theatre, the old ancient Greek theatre that's there in Sicily, that's where he
got the idea.
The emotion that comes from this place. Just being here.
Oh it's beautiful.
And then as the light goes down and it gets darker and darker it becomes more and more
beautiful, vibrant. It's pretty amazing. And I can tell you, tonight, I'm gonna be
getting goosebumps when I run out on that stage. When I play Felitsa, sitting here looking
up, my mother will be here.
Welcome to Red Rocks! Awesome, Awesome. Thank you. Isn't it an amazing place? It is so
gorgeous!
Thank you very very much. Denver you have been absolutely awesome to play for. I will
never forget you. We'll be back next year!
