There are moments in time when we all come together. Even if we've never met before.
to play
to celebrate
and to support each other.
To make our city and our world, better.
Tens years ago a small group of San Franciscans came together to launch Kiva.
The world's first and largest crowdfunding platform for social good.
Together, with more than one million lenders, Kiva has crowdfunded over seven hundred and fifty million
dollars in microloans to nearly two million entrepreneurs across the globe.
Today, Kiva launches Kiva San Francisco.
San Francisco's small businesses are the heart of our neighborhoods. They create quality jobs
and enrich the cultural fabric fabric of our city.
But they often lack just a small amount of capital to start or expand their business.
It's your city, choose who you want to lend $25 or more to.
An artisan chocolate shop in the Inner Richmond,
an urban beekeeper in the Mission
or Vietnamese restaurant owner in the Tenderloin.
As the person you chose repays, you can withdraw your money or relend to another entrepreneur on Kiva.
One of my big dreams was to live in San Francisco and the other to open and grow my business,
and Kiva helped me with that tremendously.
My name is Romayn, I work with Old Skool Cafe, a business supported by Kiva.
This job has provided me with the necessary skills that I need to work in
other restaurants and other businesses.
Old Skool Cafe has had a great and positive impact on
the community here in Bay View.
We have a lot of mentors that help us
and put us on track with college, with another job,
making sure that they get to the next level.
Twentyeight lenders from all across the United States contributed to help me
fulfill my life long dream of having my own bicycle shop.
And what the first thing I swear I'd do is become the number one employer
of transgender people in the country.
Together, we'll keep the heart in San Francisco
by lending to hundreds of local entrepreneurs over the coming years.
When our small businesses succeed
we all succeed.
Jobs are created,
neighborhoods are strengthened,
and communities thrive.
Keep the heart in San Francisco.
