simply spaced your guide to getting organized so you have more time and
space for the things that you love hey guys happy new year so I know that many
of you have the resolution to get organized and the first step that you
can do is always to declutter your space however do cluttering doesn't just
happen overnight a lot of times it's a ongoing project that you have to do a
little by little so we created our declutter in system that you can do
right now it's just five really simple steps to set yourself up for success so
that declaring becomes much easier and you can do it little by little and
create big results over time but before I jump in I want to know what is one
space in your home at your office or just in your life in general that if you
could snap your fingers and get it organized in a moment's time what space
or place would it be all right so let's get started here are the five steps to
helping you get started on your declutter Amy
step number one set up a donation bin the major reason that so many people
struggle with clutter is they don't make it a regular habit to declutter and one
strategy that we find really helpful in client's homes is to set up a really
beautiful basket or bin somewhere in the house this will help you stay in the
habit of adding to that donation pile step number two designate a donation
center what I encourage you to do is to research local organizations that accept
physical donations a lot of times why we hold on to clutter or things that we're
not using is because we're not inspired to do anything else you know we're so
gripped by the fear of letting go of something that we're gonna miss so by
shifting the focus on supporting a cause that just makes your heart warm it's
gonna really encourage you to keep up with the process step number three
schedule pickups now a lot of organizations will come to you and pick
up items especially if they're big bulky items I would look it up or even give
that organization a call right now and ask them do you do pickups knowing that
you can have a bin full of donations and someone will actually come pick it up
for you is so amazing now if you're not too sure and you just want to go with a
simple option I know Salvation Army is really wonderful I will link below to
their site and you can just enter your zip code and I'll give you some
information about your local pickup policies step number four get clear on
your clutter we created this free checklist for you that has 15 different
types of clutter that we see in client's homes most often we recommend that you
download it print it out and post it somewhere where you will see it
regularly that way as you're going through your regular schedule you'll
have a reminder of what types of clutter you may see in your home and just that
simple reminder will help you make that decision quicker step number five make
it a date the main reason why many of us find ourselves that we can never really
get ahead of the clutter or the disorder is that we're not carving out enough
time to really tackle it so what we recommend is just putting a slot on your
calendar maybe it's every Sunday for the rest of the month
maybe it's once a month but carving out an hour to and focusing on one space in
your home and just going through the items and asking yourself is this
something that I value that I use that brings joy to my life or is this
something that I can let go of just those simple questions will allow you to
identify what's clutter and what you want to keep store and put on display in
your home so pull out your calendar put it on there make sure it's recurring
even invite a friend to make it a little bit more fun but the key is to really
carve out that time that's needed also if you found these tips helpful please
