Hi there, Shannon here with American Outback Adventures & Events with another corporate
event update.
We just ran a Iron Chef in Manhattan, New York. In our Iron Chef Challenge, teams need
to work together to create a delicious menu with the various food items provided to them.
Each portion of the menu, appetizers, entrees, drinks, desserts, must be presented to the
judge's table at a specific time. Teams are judged on taste, creativity and presentation.
Usually our Iron Chefs have a very rustic feel to them, done under a tent, on the grass,
in a park with charcoal grills. For this event, the client was having a series of meetings
at a downtown Manhattan hotel that did not want to travel far after their meetings for
this event. They also wanted to incorporate their product into the event, and as a high
end liquor distributor, this wouldn't have been possible in a New York City park as alcohol
is not permitted. Because this was a small group of only 15 people, we were able to successfully
work with the hotel they were having their meetings at to host the Iron Chef event on
one of their balconies overlooking the city. Because the venue changed the feel of this
event, we decided to play into the urban, rustic, chic tone and purchased all the produce
at the local farmer's market. The participants were excited to know that they could enjoy
their own products, complete our delectable challenge and support local farmers. We had
some amazing dishes from this group and overall, the Iron Chef was a hit! This was a great
demonstration of how we here at American Outback can make our events into wherever the client
needs.
