>> I died and went to heaven about 21 years ago,
when I was named the head baseball coach at Rice.
So I've been the head baseball coach for 21 years.
And we've been very fortunate to be successful and have a lot of great young men.
Some of them go to major leagues and some of them go become very successful in business.
And it's a great place to work, because the people you coach and manage become so successful
and have a positive impact on the society.
I was born in Yoakum, Texas, believe it or not.
I was born in the country and raised in the city, always a Houstonian.
So I was very aware, growing up, of the prestige and how wonderful a place Rice was.
Initially became enchanted with Rice going to Rice football games,
because my dad ushered at Rice football games.
So I got in free.
So the excitement surrounding Rice and the prestige
of the education is what drew me to Rice.
