This week you're going to taking the Myer Briggs Type Indicator and Strong Interest
Inventory. These are two commonly used assessments that are well-researched to help students
identify their career options. The purpose of the Myer Briggs Type Indicator is to identify
your personality preferences and the purpose of the Strong Interest Inventory is to identify
your interests. And both of these assessments can help you identify careers in which you
are more likely to be satisfied based on your responses. So the assessments produce a personalized
report that you will you then use to explore your career options. There's no time limit
for each one but they take each approximately 30 minutes. You want to respond to each item
according to your own understanding so if you're not quite sure what a particular word
means just take your best educated guess and what you think that it means and answer based
on that. Your results belong to you and are confidential. So they won't be shared with
anyone else unless you give permission. You want to take both assessments and this is
the key thing take them both in a "shoes off" type of mindset. Meaning that you want to
think about what you prefer outside of the roles that you play at work and in your personal
life. Granted those things are going to probably come to the surface of mind as you address
these questions but really think about what you prefer when you are not under pressure
to do things in a particular way or to meet someone's expectations of what you should
be doing or should be like. Keep in mind there are no right or wrong answers, no better or
worse results - only the ones that are correct for you. Once the due date comes we will get
the reports and we will be able to go over the results together in class. If you have
any questions, feel free to contact me. As always, best of luck this week with your assignments.
