ROBERT: We're doing something that I don't see other insurers doing.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield has made partnerships with other companies that want to make a difference and we've done
a number of different things to reach our customers where they live, they work and they shop.
We've placed brokers and information materials in retail stores, pharmacies and
malls, programs such as our Retail Stores, which are conveniently located in malls where people shop.
MARIANO: People generally come in the door, they'll ask there; what you're doing or I
want to get insurance can I talk to someone or how much does it cost. Something basic
like that and then the managers will walk them over to the iPad station, try to answer
some of the questions, try to keep it basic or hand them off to an agent. The people,
who come in here, are very...decided to buy health insurance and they will buy it if they can.
ROBERT: We also have our Think Blue Teams, where we go out in the community, including
churches and civic organizations not only to educate but also to enroll people into
the new health care plans.
NATILEA: When perspectives members come in, they are greeted by our staff. We want to
get a better understanding of the reason for their visit so we ask a lot of questions.
They are then directed to our presentation area where they can hear a full presentation
on the affordable health care act to get an overview. Once the presentation has been completed,
they're able to check their tax credit eligibility, view plans and get an overview of our products.
ROBERT: We want to encourage folks to ask questions. Many people in the community are
eligible for subsidies that'll help them afford medical coverage that they weren't really
able to afford before. Finally we got our Be Covered Texas campaign partners with community
organizations across the State to educate everyone.
ROCIO: Why with Be Covered of Texas? It's a great organization to help out all those
people that have questions, that don't know, what is the first step to take, that with
this organization, with helping the patients, helping the community, to guide them. What
is the first step and what is the next step to the final step.
ROBERT: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas isn't stopping here. We'll always be looking
for ways, to inform and educate our customers going forward.
