All praises be to Allah.
We praise Him, seek his help and ask for His forgiveness.
We seek refugee with Allah.
Whenever Allah allows anyone to go astray, none can guide.
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger and His servant.
I bear witness that he was trustee in revealing the truth.
May Allah bless his glorious family, his companions and those who trace his guidance honestly until the Doom Day.
I advise you, brothers, sisters, and myself, to fear Allah and be obedient to Him.
I warn you and myself not to disobey Him and not to violate His commandments so as He says, "whoever does good deeds, it is for his own good.
Whoever commits evil, it is for his own bad end.
Your God is never to be unfair with you, worshipper."
Dear Muslims, brothers and sisters, Allah the Al-mighty says,
"O ye who believe! if ye fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion (to judge between right and wrong),
remove from you (all) evil (that may afflict) you, and forgive you: for Allah is the Lord of grace unbounded.
Remember how the Unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out (of thy home).
They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah.
When Our Signs are rehearsed to them, they say: "We have heard this (before): if we wished, we could say (words) like these: these are nothing but tales of the ancients."
Remember how they said: "O Allah if this is indeed the Truth from Thee, rain down on us a shower of stones form the sky, or send us a grievous penalty.
But Allah was not going to send them a penalty whilst thou wast amongst them; nor was He going to send it whilst they could ask for pardon.
But why should Allah not punish them while they obstruct [people] from al-Masjid al- Haram and they were not [fit to be] its guardians?
Its [true] guardians are not but the righteous, but most of them do not know.
Brothers and sisters, when Allah indeed offered the Trust to the Heavens and the Earth and the Mountains; they refused to undertake it, being afraid thereof:
but man undertook it; - He was indeed unjust and foolish.
The angels asked God, "Wilt Thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood?
- whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy holy (name)?" He said: "I know what ye know not." This seems to be the clearer thing angel saw in the human being.
He tends to destruct spoil everything and shed blood.
Allah appears to agree on what they said.
In the Holy Quran, you barely find the word "man" without censuring him.
Allah says, "Verily Man is in loss," "Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah" and "Truly man is, to his Lord, ungrateful"
so all accusation of cruelty and savageness are attributed to the man.
However, the is only one exception for that.
It is what the Quran stated as salvation and straight way to eternal paradise.
It is, undoubtedly, the believing in Allah.
Generally, everyone who does not understand the plan of the Quran, especially non-Muslims, will be surprised and shocked.
They would say, "What a pessimistic start with man nature?" They would reject this because the trust their human nature.
However, a huge part of human nature is savage and cruel.
This have been proved throughout the human history.
It began since Cain had killed his brother Abel brutally.
Now, I will mention why we should not be concerned about our nature.
The savageness and brutality is found in all kind of people.
We find it in learned people as much as we find it in barbarians.
In addition, we can find it in European nations in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries as much as we find it in Abu Graib prison.
Therefore, it is the same biological nature.
Thus, we need to be concerned about our nurture and ideas we are fed with.
Every culture has its own ideas and thoughts that form ones personality.
We should be afraid of culture because irrespective of how our biological nature seems savage, the culture can control it.
Scientifically, human does not have that instincts that an animal has and this assures us that we should afraid of culture more than human biological nature.
This leads us to conclude that a man can never live alone because he has fewer instincts.
However, a horse, tiger or a cat can manage its life alone.
The man fails in this because his nature is weak having fewer instincts.
Thus, he should bet on the culture not instincts.
Not to mention that Allah has breathed into human of His spirit.
A human needs to deal with thinking and inventing not instincts.
I define civilization: controlling our instincts.
Although there are thousands of civilization definitions, I am inclined to choose this.
When we control our instincts and impulses, we can create and build a civilization.
Unless we do that, we would be like animals.
Once again, we should not be concerned about our nature, we need to fear the ideas and thoughts we teach our families and communities.
A decent culture should be instructed in our societies day and night.
I think that no one can confirm that our Islamic culture these days is healthy.
It is not.
It suffers a lot of faults and damages in its constructions.
A Sunni fanaticism can always be paralleled with a ***'a fanaticism.
They are two sides of the same coin.
The have the same dogma.
Of course, ideas differ but the way of thinking is similar.
If a Sunni converted to ***'a, he would be intolerant of Sunni as he was intolerant of ***'a before.
Again, the same way of thinking.
In his book "The Humanity of Human," the contemporary American philosopher Ralph Pantberry
has cleverly pointed out that those who were responsible for the inquisitions in Spain were Catholic.
He also noticed that their victims were Catholic who were accused of heresy.
This was a result of them looking for people's beliefs and conscience and throwing them into burning fire.
This was approved by the crowd of people who felt ecstatic about killing these heretics.
All things concerning being a Catholic is coincidental.
The Protestant were victims in the sixteenth century when the inquisition reached Europe.
Sophist also were victims in the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries.
In addition, Voltaire and Hobs' followers were victims in the eighteenth century.
In the nineteenth century, Deists were targeted by محكمة .
Muslims and Jews in Spain, republicans, libertarians, Mara nous, and Mirskos were also victims.
Therefore, it is coincidental that the victim or the executioner is a Catholic.
Protestants, Fascist, Communists, and Nazis played the role of executioner and today, unfortunately, the Sunni Muslim plays this role on his ***'a brother.
Be careful.
We need to be wise in this.
We have to be cautious about the harshness and crudeness that some Muslim spiritual leaders and scholars say and teach.
They insist on dealing with the issue from the same side that erupt the conflict.
They say, "We are right and others are mistaken.
We are honest and others are liar."
In my perspective, this way of figuring will lead to more and more violence and victims.
I think the worst has not come yet.
Really, this expresses a troubled conscience and inhumanity that these spiritual leaders have.
They dare not looking for truth that will somewhat shock and disturb them.
I think that the job of spiritual leaders, scholars, thinkers and researchers is to utter the truth no matter how followers respond and react.
Most of them do not do this.
Once upon a time, I dared to say that some atheist had noble reasons to become atheist that some believers never have.
I tell you how so.
Some atheist see the disasters and calamities and they feel sorrow for the victims.
Apparently, it seems unmerciful and cruel.
Why such countries struggle colonialism for over seventy years and hundreds of them are being killed a day.
Nevertheless, no one tries to solve it.
In addition, he asks why some children are born disabled.
The atheist starts to ask, "If Allah exists, why would he allow this to happen? Where is His divine justice and mercy?" Anyway, many are still asking this question.
We do have many answers for such questions.
Here, I am not asking and answering.
I want to show you the human side that an atheist have.
When an atheist finds no answer to these questions, he would easily reject the idea of God existence.
Unfortunately, the more young Arabs read and read for non-Muslims, they will find others' ideas more convincing than simple Muslim scholars will.
These ideas include atheist thoughts.
Sheiks' traditional preaching make young people sick.
The young need to listen and read materials that are more convincing that measure up to the modern way life.
In one of the Arab countries, I met an intelligent young girl that asked me question like what I have mentioned earlier.
She told me that she met three of the most famous sheiks in the Islamic world.
She easily disprove their answers to her questions.
One of them told her that her questions are out of human mind ability.
She told him, "My human mind is asking! Do I look like an alien?" he should have told her that he could not figure out these questions.
He should be more humble.
The other sheik told her that what she asked are god-to-god questions.
She replied, "The one who asks is a worshiper of God.
Anyway, I helped her answer all of her confusing questions.
Again, some of the atheist become so on human basis.
They are deeply compassionate human.
On the other hand, a simple believer say that he is better than that atheist.
What does that mean? Is his belief as strong as the belief of philosophers or even companions such as Abu Baker, Omar, Othman and Ali? He would say, "Yes,
I believe strongly." I think that this not conviction instead it is boldness of a human being that is expressed by him not asking about others disasters.
You have never asked yourself.
If you have, you would have given us some answers to such questions." You simple arrogant Muslim,
what have you done to enhance the humanitarian and religious heritage? You have done nothing.
You are good just in consuming and taking things then you throw them without making use of them.
You are crammed with dogmatic ideas.
You neither wonder nor sympathize with others.
This is why you are insensible to other people's humanity.
Do you know why they behave like this? Because they were instructed about faith while faith comes from experience.
Let us go back to our main subject.
It is the damaged cultural construction.
It is intolerance and bias.
Arabs translate as a meaning of fanaticism.
We want to talk about prejudice which means an unfair and unreasonable opinion or feeling, especially when formed without enough thought or knowledge.
This is what construct intolerance.
Of course, will show hostility, anger and the wish to revenge.
All of these are the symptoms of that terminal disease.
One of the prominent reason is laziness found in scholars and researchers.
Any issue that seems to be tiny costs you to spend thousands of hours and maybe days near the truth that Allah knows completely.
These people do not have the stomach to search, compare, judge or measure.
They just like to learn by heart and state things that may accuse others with heresy and then slaughter them.
Imam Muhammad Ibn Shuga' Althalgy Alhanafi once said that Hanbalies should be massacred.
Look at that great Imam how he invited others to kill other Hanbali Muslims.
Of course, Hanbalis are not that innocent.
They also killed other opponent because some disagreements.
This is intolerance.
It is a kind of crime.
Some people will tell you that tolerance is against human nature while intolerance is acceptable.
It is acceptable because killing others is easier than debating them and discussing their ideas.
There is a theory in sociology and psychology which is the inclination to the easiest.
It is easier million times to put you in jail or cut you tongue than discussing your issue and thought for years.
Any intellectual or governmental authority in the world would do that.
It saves time and effort.
One of the most tragic things is when you see someone who claim that he is intelligent calling people in public areas to support him when debating an opponent.
This is barbaric.
A decent scholar does not ask common people to support him in a debate.
Have you ever seen a group of architecture inviting common people to consult them in a critical architectural issue? This have and would never happen.
This thing is not spoken of with common people.
Common people can be consulted in embellishment and decoration issues not in what is critical for a building safety.
I wonder why it is easy to discuss religion issue with common people and take their opinion in decisive issues.
Issues that Islamic Umma have been fighting for since one thousand and forty hundreds years.
They consider the opinion of people who even cannot read the Holy Quran well.
I will be clear.
Since my early childhood, I have attended many religious ceremonies.
I hate hearing someone crying, "Allako Akbar Wa Lillahi Alhamd" [Allah is the Greatest.
All praises are due to Allah].
This is just utter in the battlefield not in mosques.
It is true that this cheers someone up but at the end, this eliminate the mind's abilities.
In the debate between Faraj Fouda (A secular) and sheik Muhammad AlGhazzali, a young man started to chant, "Allah Akbar." [Allah is the Greatest].
This is terrorism.
He came to debate him why terrorizing him? This crowd refer to Quran and the sword.
Honestly, when I was a child, I felt ashamed of that.
Since that time, I have never got out in demonstrations and protests.
I feel that my personal identity is lost amid these crowds because these demonstrations are more barbaric than rational.
At that time, we went to the schools and hospitals breaking their windows.
I hated going out the streets to protest against Israeli occupation.
I can defend my country with more rational and reasonable methods.
I know that tiny percentage of people will make use of my speech who I want to listen to me.
Common people remain common people in their thinking pattern.
It would be a fool of me if I think that I am to change them.
My discourse is addressed to those who can analyze, assess and evaluate.
It is important to say that we have had enough keeping up with the majority of people.
However, we should not ignore the majority.
Socio-psychologically, it is stated that if the majority ignore something, you should undoubtedly ignore it.
Otherwise, you will be accused of treason, disloyalty or heresy.
In a wonderful experiment done, some sociologist have brought a group of students.
Those students were waiting for the experiment to start.
There was a small group of conspirator students.
They knew the plan.
Before the experiment began, the smoke started to rise from one of the room's window.
The conspirators pretend that everything is normal while others began to be anxious.
A smoke can be a signal to a fire.
However, the conspirators ignored the smoke.
When others saw that a large majority of students ignore the smoke, the began to ignore!!!!
Where is my mind, conscience and personal commitment? I will never stand by because others do not care.
This a sociological terminology called majority ignorance.
When you are part of a majority that commit crimes and is morally bad, you moral conscience will be subdued toward goodness and evil.
When they do bad things, they are sending you a message that what they do is normal.
This could be worse when these bad things are conducted under the supervision of an authority in a way that take humanity away from a human.
It is the experiment conducted by the famous scientist Stanley Milligram in 1973.
Whoever watched "Surrender" film will understand what I say.
Thus, it seems to of human nature.
Do not be concerned about your nature.
Allah says in the holy Quran, "By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right." So, wrong comes before right.
Horrible.
We need to resort to culture and educating.
It is true that wrong preceded right but right is what makes human fight against oppression and enslavement.
However, it nature does not mean nature particularly when authority stands on its side.
This why we need to bet on culture and create a just political system that does not allow the violation the moral values.
Otherwise, we will lose the battle.
We need to deal with human being irrespective of his religion, race, sex or gender.
This is how we can clearly understand.
The more you are among the crowd the more you are overpowered by patterns.
I used to, as other Islamists, to experience this.
An anonymous (X) that we do not know about his ideology.
He says things that appear to be common but seem unfamiliar.
Before judging what he is saying, one asks, "what is he?" not "who is he?" Muhammad, Husain, he does not care.
What he cares about is whether that person is from his party, sect... This questioning seems to be innocent.
In fact it is not.
What does that questioning indicate? What does it mean to suspend a judgment? He is not going to judge unless he knows the speaker's ideology.
Whether what the speaker says is true or wrong is not his concern.
His concern is to know whether he is organizational identity: Sunni or Shia? Tahrir or Muslim Brotherhood? Sophist or Wahhabi? and so far.
This tells us an important thing.
If you ask that person, "Is what the speaker says right or wrong?" Do you know what the answer will be? He will stop and ask you, "What is the speaker?€
if the answer is, "he is from your party and sect," he will say that he is right and worst cases he will apologize for his faults.
On the other hand, if that speaker is from other parties and sects, he will disprove him before even listening to him.
Awful.
One word can be right and wrong simultaneously depending on the identity of the speaker.
This terrific.
These people also use another poor trick.
They ask you, "For the benefit of whom is this said? Why at this time?" I have comments on these poor questions.
Firstly, does truth have time that we utter it in? Is it told on Sunday and Monday and is hid on Thursday and Friday.
Secondly, this questioning is adopted by pragmatism even in considering facts and creeds.
Oh, William James and John Dewey, who told you that facts are weighted by the benefit scale.
Truth is sacred for its own.
Allah says, "The whole truth is from your Lord." Prophet Muhammad PBUH told us about a prophet who comes at the Last Day with no followers.
Imagine a messenger or a prophet that was sent to a nation of about million people while one believed him.
What does that tell us? In the light of that, what I understand as that truth need to be spoke of even if now one accepts it.
Others ask about who are the beneficiary of telling the truth.
I will reveal things that are more dangerous.
This signals more dangerous things than what I revealed before.
These questions show a perspective that what seem to belong to OTHERS, irrespective of the right found in it, will be considered to be wrong.
They think that if you approve on one thing of their beliefs, you are inviting your party to believe in it.
Unfortunately, most people think that way.
The dangerous thinkers in the East and West, Muslims and non-Muslims who studied psychology and sociology, know that well.
They intend to argue with others to defend their ideology publicly in issues they excel in.
Then, automatically common people will say, "As long as he is right about this, he is right about all what he says and believes."
This why you find a Sunni blaming you when you mention the *** of Al Husain and criticize Moaweia and Yazeed.
He will ask you, "Who will benefit from that? Because if it is proved that Shias are right about this, this will lead people to become Shia.
Oh, man.
Fear God." This way of thinking is ill.
No mindful thinker will adopt that.
Crowds can adopt it.
I think that van never convince a real thinker of an idea if you proved it 99%.
He will wait the other 1% to totally believe in it.
He can be convinced and unconvinced by this remaining 1%
He does not behave as crowd behave.
The crowd tell you that if you to prove 5%, I will follow you totally.
This is real thinking or else you never smelled thinking.
Those people refer to a danger thing.
It is not to debate with anyone until making sure that they can disprove his ideas.
He will say that the Satan had debated with God.
Why shall I debate? This is odd.
Originally, he does not believe in debating and discussing because every debate is an adventure.
You may win and you may lose.
Every debater is supposed to believe that a particular sect or party does not own the complete truth.
My brother can be right.
I will admit to him.
Once upon a time, Ma'mar Ibn Rashed told Hammad Ibn Abi Suliyman, "Oh Hammad, one day you were a leader in your community.
When you disagreed with them, turned into a follower." Hammad replied to him, "I swear to God that I prefer to be follower in the right way than to be a leader in the wrong way."
Oh my God! This is how we are supposed to behave.
This is the type of people who fear Allah at the Last Day.
Not manipulating the truth to you good.
Another example is Obaid Allah Alanbari who was Albasra judge.
He admitted that he was wrong about a Fatwa he issued.
In front of people he said, "I prefer to be a tail in truth path than to be a head in the wrong path."
I think that a man who says has a mature and grownup personality.
He is full of greatness and glory that allows him to admit his wrongs.
At least, he would not lose more than what he had.
On the other hand, dogmatic failures are immature so they easily to themselves and others.
The impressionist French painter Piyar Rino wrote once, "I am weak.
I have little goodness and a lot of evil.
I know that and I don't like about this." This is a glory form a famous painter.
He has what he count on.
Other dogmatic and fanatic people will be anxious when debating because the debate he has the only thing he has.
He does not have a real balance.
This is the difference between the mature and the immature.
Wise people do not consider a debate as an adventure because if he is to lose, he will get a new idea and he will widen his knowledge.
Long time ago, I told you about the story that Ibn AlArabi mention in his book "Ahkam AlQuran" [The Statements and verdict of the Holy Quran].
A foreigner man walked into Imam Abu alFadil Aljawhari room while he was teaching.
He told his students that Prophet Muhammad divorced, broke up with his wives and said that his wives are as his mother (he will never near them).
The foreigner man waited until all people went home.
Imam Abu alFadil Aljawhari saw the man and the man told him that he wanted to tell him something.
The man went home with Imam Abu alFadil Aljawhari.
When they became by their own, the man told Imam Abu alFadil Aljawhari that prophet Muhammad had never said that his wives are as his mother.
Imam Abu alFadil Aljawhari hugged the man and told him, "May Allah bless you as you blessed my soul." The next day, all people gathered in Imam Abu alFadil Aljawhari's lesson.
Imam Abu alFadil Aljawhari glimpsed the man and asked him to come to him.
Imam Abu alFadil Aljawhari asked his students, "Do you know who this is?" no one knew him for he is a traveler to Egypt.
Imam Abu alFadil Aljawhari told them, "I am your teacher and this is my teacher."
Ibn AlArabi commented on this quotation saying, "this is the perfect Islam and Imam.
It is loving truth."
Some wonder, "how can we allow such openness and this divergence? How can we have this liberty in reading about others' thoughts and creeds
that may corrupt anyone?" one of the greatest things that others blame me for is that I keep telling people to read everything.
They are freaking out as if they never read that prophet Muhammad said, "Whoever works hard and err will get an Ajer (award).€
and the nice English proverb "venture nothing, gain nothing." Reading, debate, and discussing are adventures.
I will venture.
I know I will lose things but, no doubt, I will gain many things.
Reading and debating can correct my wrongs.
The ideas that I say are not mine.
It makes me feel like I am an alien.
Alienation is the term used by Marx and Hegel.
However, when I say and adopt ideas that I can justify and defend, these ideas become mine.
It is like a bee.
A bee move to a lot of flowers but the honey it produces is hers even though it is taken from flowers.
Coramous is a Greek writer.
He is the first comedian writer in the fifth century B.C.
He wrote, "Cognition is the only beholder and listener.
Without it everything is blind and spiritless." He wants to say that you should adopt and idea after recognizing it.
Otherwise, you will be blind.
If you venture nothing, you will gain nothing.
I ask you by god, when anyone of you reads human heritage including the Western.
When he reads the famous writers then experience that who said, "I will not debate because the Satan had debated with God.
Why shall I debate?" those who establish mass minds.
They create controlled confined minds.
What they want is to fight and shed blood to defend their dogma.
This is instead of debating because they are not sure enough that they will win.
Lesing said a word that have been quaver my body whenever I remember it.
Thank you Allah.
I see myself that I am at this level as he.
I swear by God that this man is what Allah wants a man to be.
not a man who says, "Oh Allah! I believed in you, your messenger and all what my party and sect taught me.
Then I turned off my mind.
Without thinking and contemplating." Allah would tell him, "this is not why I have created you.
This is not why I gave you a mind.
In what did you use your mind?" what Allah loves and wants is Lising type.
Lising said, "If the whole Truth was in Allah's right hand and in His left hand is the continuous
diligent looking for truth with the possibilities to make mistakes and the truth remain hidden.
Then, if Allah asks me to choose, I would near his left hand.
Then, I will kneel, and say, "Oh Allah! Give me what is in Your left hand.
What is in Your right hand belongs only to Your Glory.!!!!!" The complete truth is for God.
Ibn Taymia, Abu Hanifa, Alshafi or anyone else, does not know it.
The prophet himself does not know the whole truth.
Allah asks the prophet to say, "May Allah increase me with knowledge." Moses PBUN when he went out with Alkhider, he said,
""I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travel."
May Allah make our souls as Moses' and promote us with Muhammadism.
When a learned Muslim reads for those people, like Lising, then he reads for stupid Muslim sheiks, he will disown himself from these crippled and backward ideas.
He will belong with free intellectuals.
The future is ahead open-minded and tolerant people not for slaves and idiots.
That is it for the first part of the sermon.
May Allah forgive us all.
All praise be to Allah the One that accepts repentance from His Servants and forgives sins: and He knows all that ye do.
And He listens to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, and gives them increase of His Bounty: but for the Unbelievers their is a terrible Penalty.
I want to say two things before I leave.
The French philosopher Ralph Pantberry mentioned another amazing sentence in his book.
He said, "In a pirate, gangster, and thief, there is something simple and innocent
that we do not find in the intolerant." He wants to say that they are closer to humanity than an intolerant.
It is because they admit that they are committing crimes for their own good and that they behave illegally and immorally.
This is human to admit the truth.
The Prophet Muhammad once said, "To err is human and the best error makers are the repentant." In addition, he told us that if do not err, Allah will replace you with others who err and repent.
Then, Allah forgive them.
An intolerant does not believe in this.
He never commits sins and does wrongs.
He has the absolute truth.
Thus, he leads others to death track if they do not believe in what he believe.
This states how much an intolerant is insensible to other people's humanity.
The most dangerous thing is that when you find an intolerant working for his good on the behalf of God and his country.
This is why he is inhuman.
As I said before.
A thief is better than an intolerant because no matter how much thieves steal from us is less dangerous than those intolerants who led massacres and genocides.
Those criminals kill people by the name of God and the Last Day.
That is horrible.
Oh my Lord!
May Allah teach us more in religion and guide us to the best way.
May Allah teach us what benefit us.
May Allah make us benefit from what He taught us.
May Allah full us with His fear.
Dear brothers and sisters, Allah commands justice, the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin,
and He forbids all shameful deeds, and injustice and rebellion: He instructs you, that ye may receive admonition.
Please have the Prayer start.
