Hi, my name is Andrea Orta Mashburn, and today I'm going to discuss what questions to ask
a babysitter. The first question you're going to want to ask the babysitter is simply what
experience do they have. If they've had any kind of experience, this may range from anything
from watching younger children in their own household, or even next door neighbors. A
second question you may want to ask a babysitter is what are they involved in. If their involved
in church, school organizations, this will kind of give you a sense of what that child's
total attitude is. The more involved that child is, typically the more dependable they
are. Another question you may want to ask a babysitter is where they live. Simply because
if it's the end of the night and you have to take them home, knowing where they live
may be a bit of useful information. Also, this might tell you how late you can stay
out, or what other information you may need. A final question you may want to ask them
is how comfortable do they feel around a child your age. It's o.k. for them to have questions,
so give them the opportunity to ask questions themselves. Make sure above all, that they're
comfortable, they may have never babysat someone your child's age, or your children's ages
before. So, ask that question. What do they need from you as a parent? What can you help
them do, in order for them to be the most successful babysitter possible? So, remember
be dependable, be safe and always be on time.
