The overall goal of this project is to give skateboarding in India a little push.
There are people that skate and they are really motivated to skate, but there is just
no possibilities to skate here.
You can skate in the streets, but it’s not that easy to skate in the streets in India.
So as we found out there's just one skatepark in whole India
and it’s not even open to the whole public.
You have to pay for it in order to get in.
That was the moment to get this thing going and build a skatepark together with them.
To come out here to India and contribute to skateboarding, it’s a labor of love.
Skateboarding in India is so new, so it’s like
you see the kids out here and they’re like the in ‘80s, you know.
They’re doing tricks they don't even know the names of.
They're making up their own tricks.
That's like when we started skating, you know.
We didn't know what we were doing, we were just going for it.
And to be here at the center of something like that is very rewarding.
It’s a selfless thing. It’s not like aw man I was there I did that, you know. It’s more like
you can just look back with a big smile on your face.
It’s like
that *** tight, you know? like, stoked for it.
Because there's gonna be rippers that come out of here.
there’s gonna be dudes that are
enjoying their lives, amongst all this other stuff.
I don't know why, once you start skating -- it was like a great escape for me.
I used to have these 14 hour days like at work, which started really early, and stuff.
I was sitting in front of the computer the whole day
and you just feel like you have no purpose in life anymore, you’re just going to work.
You're just living for the weekend, and what's the point?
You see everybody going to work
and you see it on their faces that they don't really want to do what they’re doing
but you just have to do it.
it’s the giant rat race, you know.
so when they finally see people doing things because they want to do it
and not for some hidden agenda or any other purpose, they find it quite hard to believe, you know.
This is what I want to do with my life.
I want to skate and I want all people to skate just because of that.
In my head I feel if I get more kids into skateboarding,
you know you feel like you've done something which is bigger than yourself.
Robin and me, we met Shake and Soms last year, when we were traveling in India.
Coming here, we were speeding up the process for HolyStoked
cause now they see all the steps that have to be taken in order to build a park.
People who are motivated to build and to skate what they build are coming together
in order to create something, something new.
And now we are people from all over the world.
We are gonna create an amazing spot for Indian skaters.
I don't mind doing the work to give to skateboarding
because skateboarding gave me such an amazing life and great experiences, friendships.
To be able to give that gift to someone else stokes me out, you know.
it gives me energy to be able to do that.
