Hi there internet! Today I've got for you nice and fresh salat with figs, walnuts, parma ham and blue cheese.
figs are in season right now so you have to try it!
we cut of the stalk because it is really hard almost like wood
then we cut it into quarters, actually into six pieces
we are going to add some indian fig, actually it is a cactus fruit
it is really easy to peel, skin is quait thick, we cut off the ends
look how pretty it looks inside
we cut it down here, here I show you
and now you peel it just like that ... so easy to peel
and another one
indian fig is a peculiar one, its seeds are very hard, if you don't want to use it because of that you can replace it with pear they work well with walnuts and blue cheese
now we are going to do a quick vinaigrette sauce with pomegranate
the best way to prepare pomegranate is to cut it in half
and then we smack it into a bowl with a table spoon
there you go! nice and clean
sometimes some bits may fall into the bowl just get them out
it's a very quick, easy and clean way of doing it
add a squeeze of a lemon juice
salt and pepper
olive oil
ok let's start our salad
I've got here some nice baby leaves rocket etc.
you can use any salad you like
salad goes into the bowl
a little bit of our pomegranate vinaigratte
bit more salt
toss it around but don't grab it or squeeze it, just gently toss it arround with your fingers
few walnuts, I have roasted them on a dry pan before
few bits of both regular and indian figs
let's plate it up
I have some beautifull parma ham slices here, you can tear it into smaller bits
these goes around the plate
let's crumble some blue cheese on it
bit more sauce to finish
And there you go!
