Once you have your book all set up just leave it there indefinitely, you are going to have
to check on it, on a regular basis to make sure that there aren't any wet towels that
are sitting against it. So what you will do is pull the bookends away, pull out any paper
towels that you have in there and you want to start by gently flipping the book over.
Now if the material it has been sitting on is soaked you want to switch it out with something
else as well because you want to make sure that everything around your book is as dry
as possible otherwise it's going to take much longer to dry. So you are going to put clean,
dry paper towels back into your book, you want to make sure that you are checking on
a regular basis, to start with you probably want to check at least every half hour. Now
this will be if your book is dripping water. Once it's gotten past the drip stage but it's
still saturated and you still can't move the pages apart you can probably check every couple
of hours, only you will know for sure how frequently to check to make sure that your
book is getting drier and not sitting around in its own water. You also want to make sure
that your bookends aren't absorbing any water or getting wet, if it is a problem with moisture
clinging to the bookend then you can also put paper towel between the bookend and the
edge of your book. You just want to make sure that you are getting as much moisture up as
possible, as quickly as possible, because the longer that your book is wet, the more
likely that you are going to have permanent damage to it or problems with mold.
