I'm sure it also happened to you.
You're on your console. You're playing. You're happy.
And suddenly... Oh no, not again...
In every game, there are these moments you've already seen in a ton of game, and which still irritate you,
Those moments you saw coming, but hoped never happened.
A little advice, this countdown is not talking about clichés but about situations.
A cliché is a recrring element, like the use of th Four Elements, while a situation is an evnt happening during the game.
I'm aware it's a bit confused, and I hope you'll get it.
Well anyway, no need to discuss any longer, I think you understood. Maybe.
Yugnat is online and nobody cares ! Here's the Top 10 unbearable situations.
Top 10 unbearable situations
"Oh, so you had to lose."
How much RPG forced you to do that, lose against your opponent ?
Not to mention, each time you're wasting all your items in the hope of winning the fight,
or aven turning off the console in anger without seeing there was a cutscene following.
Sure, it's often meant to follow the plot, or is connected to some sort of symbolism...
But it's still really annoying.
"It's forbidden, so I'm doing it !"
In every game, you know that if it says "Don't go in the forest", you gotta go in the forest,
that if it says "Don't turn on the machine", you gotta turn on the machine, and that if it says...
No ! Do not eat this pizza !
Well, you see what I mean.
Sure, having more freedom is one of videogames' interest, but here...
Only do what is forbidden just gets annoying after a while...
"Shut up !"
I can't believe it, does nobody wants to bump off all these guys ?
You know, the ones who like to make twenty pages of endless speeches,
that you start all over again because you hit A repeatedly to end it !
It's like they never stop talking !
Are you ever going to shut up ?
If I hear one more word coming from the *** turbine you have for a mouth,
I'm closing it with a stapler !
"My life is an endless misery..."
The girl I loved have been killed by my archnemesis, who's a lost member of my family.
My best friend turned evil, due to some blackmailing that I can't help.
I'm on the lam, because I'm against the corrupt system. Therefore, my head is put a price on, and everyone hates me.
In order to save the world, I'll have to sacrifice myself, and nobody's going to thank me.
Oh, and by the way, I'm an orphan.
*** My Life.
F@#$ing spikes !
F@#$ !
F@#$ !
F@#$ !
"Yes ! Wait, in fact no..."
You see what I'm talking about ?
Simply enough, you beat the final boss. Great. The game is over, right ?
In fact, there's another boss. Of course, no heal, so you don't really have a choice, let's try to survive.
Barely, you beat him. Now the game is over.
Wait... Is it ?
Oh no...
Of course, you die. No save, so you have to beat the three forms all over again.
Better prepared, you win and you can FINALLY see the end of the game. Hey, wait a second...
What ? This freaking boss is still alive ?
This situation is unbearable. Just... unbearable. Come on, have some mercy !
"Come on, hurry up !"
There's nothing more stressful than a game imposing you a countdown, especially if it is very tight.
It means that you mustn't stop, you have to make a perfect run to the finnish, or else that's the end of you !
Of course, the game is doing whatever it can to make it even more stressful,
either with a music intensification, or rising lava or water or acid or whatever
or even a ringing alarm making you understand that you're potentially dead.
I'm gonna make it... 3... 2... 1...
HAPPY NEW YEAR !
Of all the cliché annoying videogame levels...
Is it the ice levels, the lava levels, the sky levels... Nothing, I said nothing, is worse...
Than the underwater levels.
"Glub ! Glub ! Glub !"
Dare tell me, dare tell me that when you see one of them, the thing that cross your mind isn't
a blue hell. Yeah.
Gravity is altered, forcing you to move precisely, or slowly,
Ennemies are moving twenty times more easily than you, traps are taking advantage of the environment,
and you have to breathe if you don't want to drawn !
Send me a swimming instructor !
While watching this scene, you already know what I'm going to talk about.
"I'm kind of having déjà-vu here..."
I have to restart the game from the beggining. And this time, it may be harder.
I don't have anything against replaying some parts of the game.
Besides, I enjoy fighting again bosses from games I already beaten.
But having to redo the entire game, especially games as hard as the Ghouls and Ghosts series or the Contra series...
And I won't talk about Majora's Mask, which in a different style makes you live the three same days
over and over and over and over and OVER AND OVER !
Most of the previous situations were planed by the game.
Speeches, underwater levels, false bannings, multiple form bosses... Everything was planed and coded.
The situation number one wasn't planed by the game. It's caused by the game.
It's caused by the game which doesn't help us while it should.
This situation is the one where the player, completly desperate, screams...
"I'm lost !"
If there's one situation that makes me want to bump off the game's developers,
it's being lost without having any idea where to go.
It's often happening in RPGs. You're let down on the map, without any clue, and good luck in finding your way.
But it doesn't happen only in RPGs, really. There's also most adventures games, some plateform games, games based on secrets,
endless labyrinths, unknown moves, secret passages, randomly dismissed objects,
and a lot of other situations where you find yourself completely stuck. And why that ?
Because you have no idea where you have to go in order to advance in the game !
So you wander around for hours, and after a while you turn off the console and you search the solution on Internet,
and you do it again ten minutes later because you're lost again !
I hate being lost !
And I also hate underwater levels and countdowns and speeches and restarting the game and depressing characters and AAAAAAAH !
Yeah, I know, I'm using the gunshot too much...
