I still get Goosebumps every time they play the national anthem so being able to experience
that on board a ship for morning colors, it's but when it's been a long I really appreciated
the opportunity to do that. I think that it was really cool that the USS
Bataan was able to get a Vietnam vet on board. It's really cool to be able to say that's
a galley and they know what the galley is. They know all of our vernacular they know
all of our acronyms the millions of little acronyms that we use because your just talking
to another Sailor they are just a couple years removed.
I thought this was really cool I hadn't been on an actual Naval Vessel for 40 some years.
What was interesting to me was what they do here is helicopters; basically we did the
same thing with the river boats. So although we do different things with different vessels
the job was the same, it's just different people doing the same job.
Its just neat to be able to that, bring somebody that has served before into modern day Navy
and it's those people that came before us that made the Navy what it is today.
I really enjoyed my time and I appreciate everybody taking the time to set this up,
taking me on the tours. This has been awesome and I'd like to thank all the Sailors that
are active now and any veterans that are out there and had an opportunity to see this,
thank them for their service.
