What is the best alternative to Apple TV?
Try Hulu. They have a lot of selections, including older shows that aren’t available anywhere
else.
I don’t want to watch the commercials. And I won’t modify the adblocker so that their
site works.
You might want to pay for Hulu Premium to watch some of your favorite shows.
What is another alternative to Apple?
Netflix is popular. They have movies, and you could roll in a video game subscription.
I thought Netflix was in a death spiral.
They lost some content from Starz and other cable channels. But they now have more subscribers
than HBO.
Is it worth it to subscribe to sites like HBOGO?
Not really, unless you can’t afford the premium cable subscription. If you have premium
cable bundled with your internet service, you don’t need services like HBO’s downloads.
It’s hard to watch stuff on the go when it is only on cable.
That’s what a DVR is for. If you need TV shows on the go, you could get them through
Amazon Instant Video.
Their cheap shows are $1.99 and go up to $3.99 per episode.
It’s cheaper if you pay up front for the whole season. And if you sign up for Amazon
Prime, the cost of a lot of their streaming content goes to zero.
Do you like Roku?
Roku has about 400 channels, Angry Birds and a lot of live sports packages. It’s affordable,
and it supports the TuneIn radio application.
But they want your credit card number to activate it.
Doesn’t Apple need that type of information, too? You could set up any gaming devices in
your house to handle streaming media.
What is the benefit of that?
Watching streaming media without having to buy a device to do so.
At least there are a lot of options, without having to take a bite of the poison apple.
