The first thing we want to do is get our drum ready for decorating, and we're going to do
that by applying a base paint over it so it covers up any markings and any decorations
that are already on the can. Now, Keep in mind that the base paint is only meant to
cover up the colors, and the writing that would show through if we were to put just
a regular coat of paint directly onto the can. This basically makes it so that when
we apply the colored paint, we don't have any colors showing through. We apply this
base paint over the entire image, but just know that you'll still see some of the colors,
but it will be less accentuated. We've applied the base paint, and we see that a lot of the
colors that were originally on the can are much duller, and don't shine through. Once
this dries, we're ready to put our regular coat of paint that we're going to use to decorate
it; the colored paint. Now I've shown you how to apply the white base paint over the
can that will be used as our drum, and then get it ready to apply the colored paint.
