Bombsite A has a distinct lack of crates- this is a recurring theme throughout the map.
Despite all this the main bombsite is surprisingly similar to play.
As far as bombsites go, bombsite A has a lot of choice. You can choose to plant it on the
steps at the back, on the tops of the two balcony bits, or even inside the plant pot,
which I've shown in red here just because it's SO AWESOME.
The hidden camping spot at the back remains though you have to be more precise since this
spiral staircase doesn't have any dark corners that you can lurk behind. You are well covered
from the ramp but remain vulnerable from an attack from enemies approaching from B.
Speaking of which, whereas before you could jump up and over this wall at any point, there
is now a broken part with the rest being too tall to jump over. Instead it provides excellent
cover for anybody attacking the bombsite who manages to get this close.
You can jump up onto the roof here. Not that much point to it, though you can jump between
this and the back part of the bombsite if you do so wish.
The cannons are glitchy and fiddly to walk over and don't provide very good cover, though
camping next to them camouflages you surprisingly well if you're CT. Terrorists... not so much.
The fence at this point is an excellent choice if you're guarding the site, though you're
vulnerable to attack from the far side entrance. I would recommend having somebody specifically
guarding this entrance should you want to utilise this barn at all.
As before there is a raised balcony you can reach here which provides good coverage of
all of the entrances, though it is exposed. To cover the far side entrance I'd say to
try this area, which hides you from people in the bombsite thanks to that large, well-placed
rock. Enemies approaching will probably be scared of snipers from the room over there,
so they'll probably come around slowly backed up against this wall allowing you to shoot
them. IN THE FACE. The ramp area has been opened up a bit more
but you still have strong points either side of the entrance- enemies rushing through here
will have to keep track of so many potential ambush points that you'll likely have the
advantage. One area I do believe will be important will
be this balcony here, which provides a second direct approach to A for people at B. I feel
that the area down around the corner here could prove to be a good spot, since the plants
will conceal you from the bombsite and you have a strong attack either side of the house.
And finally, they ruin everything with this room. Not only is it filled to the top with
crates, but it seems a tad unnecessary and overcomplicates the B entrance to A. This
whole area stinks of graphical optimisation. I guess it lets AWPers have an over-powered
camping spot guarding the ramp and the chance to take out stragglers from the side-entrance
with a nice little hidey hole should things get too tough.
As with all bombsites, there has to be one place you can camp that's so bad it's good,
and I'm going to say it's THIS spot. You're hidden against a dark wall and by the time
your outline can be seen against the background, enemies will often be too busy scanning the
bombsite to see you. And that sums up my analysis of the bombsite.
And- OH LOOK! Christmas lights. Merry Christmas!
