Alright, so we're going to replace a magnet in a headback. I'm going to show you guys
how to do this. So we have a mini machina who lost a magnet. This is pretty common in
a lot of dolls for this to happen. I have the spare magnet right here. Our supplies
tonight are super glue. I get it from the Dollar Tree in a pouch, and there are a few
different ones. This is the liquid. I also really like the gel. Another super glue I
love is the Loctite gel. I like it because the squeezy applicator makes it really easy
and the gel is really thick so it goes exactly where I want it. We also have scotch tape.
So what you do is you take a piece of scotch tape. You put it sticky side up over the place
where the magnet would meet in the face plate, and drop the magnet on there. So now you know
when it goes in the head that is the side that needs to be glued in. And the side on
the sticky side of the tape is the side that you want to meet up in the head. So the side
you don't want to glue is on the tape. You can't get this wrong. Put some glue, not a
whole lot, you don't want to make a big mess, in the hole. Close your glue. So we have a
drop in there. I'm letting it cure for just a moment because it is very very wet. And
then you put the magnet in the hole using the tape, and squish it down. If the hole
is very tight around the magnet it can be difficult to get the magnet in there straight
and you have to be really careful. You want the magnet in the hole as straight as possible.
Peel the tape off. Wipe off any excess glue, quickly before it cures. Set it down and wait.
(I don't have any editing software, so we're gonna wait.) If you leave tape over the magnet,
if you want to check the polarity, you can. With super strong magnets like this though,
it can still pull the tape out. See the faceplate is not flying away so you know you got it
right. And you can feel the tug when you pull it off. With magnets in horns and things they're
so strong that the tape won't hold it in place. I didn't use very much glue, so it should
be cured by now. That's the sound of success! Good luck guys.
