Hello! Whoever is watching this. So I made this video because a lot of people have asked
me, you know, how has this all started? Why am I singing so many songs in Romanian? Did
I lose a bet? Why do I like Romanian so much? I will let you know how this all started,
it's kind of a long story but I'll try to make it a little shorter. This is all started,
rewind, and go back a couple years. More like 10 years or so when I was in 6th grade I believe,
or 7th grade, when I was around 12. It was 2006, or 2007. And the viral video of the
time was this video titled "Numa Numa Guy" and obviously I was on Youtube and I wanted
to see what this was all about. So I watched this video
and just in case you don't know what this video is, I'm going to show you a
little bit of what it is and and you'll hear what the song being played is.
*Dragostea Din Tei-O-zone playing
Anyways, so you get the point of the video. It's this guy who has got some pretty cool
dance moves and he's dancing to this song. So this song has gone around the world, so
I'm pretty sure most of you know it. Especially if you are in Romania or Moldova....anywhere
actually. This song is so popular. People know it as the Numa Numa song and so when
I heard this, yeah, I thought the guy was cool, okay. But the song was really interesting
and I thought, what language is this? I have to know what this is because I don't understand
it but it sounds kind of cool. So I went and looked at the original video and there, my
eyes were opened. I can literally remember thinking, and I know some people might think
"Oh wow, O-zone? This song?" No, but really. Believe me. I was just like, mind blown. I
had never heard this language and I mean, honestly, I just fell in love with Dan Balan.
I'm just gonna put that out there. I'm still, in love with him. I know now he's singing
in Russian because he's from Moldova and that's amazing and I listen to his Russian
songs. Do I understand them? No. Do I understand anything at all? Nothing. But I still listen
and I love them. So anything Dan Balan does, to me, is golden.
So yeah, I've followed him ever since then and all of their songs. And then after that
I just started to more Romanian music because I really just loved this language that I couldn't
understand but I could understand some words because I speak Spanish.
In 7th grade we had to do this a project and one of the people that you could chose from
was Vlad Țepeș, I believe his last is, or "Dracula" as other people know him. And, of
course I chose to do my project on him because that means I could research more about Romania
and teach everyone else about the wonders of Romania. I remember when I got my first
job in highschool, the first thing I really wanted to spend money on was something that
I could learn Romanian with. So I bought this course by Pimsleur to learn Romanian and it's
a good course. I mean, I learned a lot of words but it's so hard when you don't have
anyone to practice with so I kind of gave it up. But I also bought this book which someone
else sent to me as well, recently, so thank you so much I appreciate it. It's a good book
and now that I really need to learn Romanian I will look at it again. And I even bought
this book to learn more about Romania itself. Nowadays I can just go on Google but that's
what I did. And last but not least, I got this huge dictionary. I mean, now I definitely
don't need this because we have Googletranslate. Look at this, I mean, it's thick! This is
serious business. I love Romania. So that's just to prove that I am a little bit crazy
about Romania. And yes, that's my whole story. I love the culture. I'm in love with the language.
I think it's the most beautiful sounding language ever and that's why I've listened to all this
Romanian music. And I never thought that that would lead to going viral in Romania. To me,
it's just like, what?! But I'm super happy and I'm blessed by it because now I have like
400 people that I can practice Romanian with and it's so exciting for me. And yes, that's
my story, so let me know what you think about it. If you have anymore questions or anything
else you want to know about me. I hope you enjoyed this video. Bye.
