Hey everybody How are you?
I’m Ryan Grady and this is Champion tree! I’m out here on Devil’s hammock Wildlife management area
and it is gorgeous today.
Devil’s Hammock wildlife management area is located only 40 minutes outside of Gainesville on Hwy 24.
There are more than 7600 acres and consists of bottomland hardwoods, cutover pines, and cypress forests.
There are two canoe launches in the area, there are plenty of other recreations outdoor opportunities
such as hiking, wildlife viewing, fishing, and hunting.
Man this sure looks like a nice spot for a picnic, what do you think Adam?
Sure is... A bushel of oysters would be mighty nice. - Yeah...!
You can tell a hogs been walking by here rubbing himself on this tree, they do that to itch themselves sometimes.
This entire area is filled with hog sign as you can see, they have been in here rooting it up.
One of the cool things about hog hunting on this management area is that you can come during small game and you don’t need a quota.
So if you don’t draw a quota for deer season, that doesn’t mean you can’t come this year,
you can still come out and shoot some hogs!
Devil’s hammock offers quota hunts for general gun, archery, muzzleloader, and also for the turkey season.
What’s unique about this area is that it offers a youth turkey hunt, and also a family hunt during the deer season.
