JACOB SOBOROFF: Hey, it's Jacob.
Today we've got snow dancing, the sickest cheerleaders,
and an update on Turkey.
EURONEWS REPORTER: I believe Turkey is heading down
an irreversible road.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
JACOB SOBOROFF: Last Thursday, Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan
shut down access to Twitter in Turkey.
And some are saying YouTube might be the next target,
since recordings of his leaked conversations
are all over the platform.
EURONEWS REPORTER: The recording shows
what are a series of conversations in which Erdogan
purportedly tells his son to dispose of large sums of money.
JACOB SOBOROFF: Erdogan says the recordings are part of a smear
campaign to influence Sunday's elections.
YouTube has been blocked before in Turkey, from 2008 to 2010.
And people found workarounds then to get onto YouTube,
and they're doing the same thing now with Twitter.
Actually, Twitter use has gone up
since the ban was put into place.
This, combined with the massive and sometimes violent
protests over the last year, have
led some to draw comparisons to the Arab Spring.
REPORTER: A young kid, age of 15 called Berkin Elvan,
was hit in the head with a tear gas canister.
He went into a coma.
He was in that coma for 269 days.
He just passed away.
JACOB SOBOROFF: As of this morning,
a Turkish court issued an injunction on the Twitter ban.
But it remains to be seen if the government's going
to comply and, if so, how soon.
If you're interested in knowing more,
we put together a great playlist for you
after the show with more information on what's
really going on in Turkey.
We'll continue to update it as things develop.
EARNEST: I have no idea how I came across this video.
But when I watched it, it put me in a trance.
I zoned in and I could not zone out.
[MUSIC - PILLAR POINT, "DREAMIN'"]
This is Pillar Point's first music video
from their self-titled debut album.
It was directed by Wild Combination,
and the dance moves are provided by Daisuke Omiya.
It's just a cool video and it reminded me
that going against the grain can be a beautiful thing.
JACOB SOBOROFF: It takes a lot of love to raise one kid.
Imagine how much love it takes to raise 32.
Annmarie Richards and her husband
have devoted their lives to helping kids with nowhere else
to go.
ANNMARIE RICHARDS: Now, when I came to May Pen,
I recognized that there were so many kids that were in need.
My husband and I decided-- we say,
we're going to try to do something.
But in doing something, we had no other place.
We would have to take them home.
We don't need to know where you're from.
We just know that the love in our heart
is a reason to help another child.
JACOB SOBOROFF: And a gang over at GoBoka and the Make Life
Better Foundation promised a computer lab
to Annmarie and her kids if this video
got 50,000 views by April 10.
They have already hit it, but who cares?
Continue to spread the love.
MITCHELL DAVIS: Hi, hello.
This is Mitchell Davis, and I am normally
on a channel called LiveLavaLive.
But right now, I'm here.
And we're going to talk a little bit
about Yacht-- the entity, the people, Yacht.
This is their new song called "Plastic Soul."
It's a video about having fun, and lighting fireworks,
and having skateboarding shenanigans.
[MUSIC - YACHT, "PLASTIC SOUL"]
It's chill.
It's fun.
They're awesome.
Check all their things out.
They're these cute little babes.
JACOB SOBOROFF: Tomorrow is World Theatre Day.
And our friends over a Crash Course Lit
are leaning into it with a two-part lesson
on the most performed play of all time, Hamlet.
JOHN GREEN: The characters are closely watching each other.
I mean, Gertrude and Claudius are watching Hamlet.
Hamlet's schoolmates Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
are watching him closely, as Claudius is encouraging
them to spy while they throw back Danish grog
and talk about girls.
JACOB SOBOROFF: John Green even includes this bad-*** piece
of "Lion King" trivia that is sure to impress
the ladies at your next soiree.
JOHN GREEN: Simba?
Hamlet.
Mufasa?
Recently murdered king.
Scar?
Claudius.
Mufasa in the sky in smoke?
Obviously ghost.
The point is, you must never go there, Simba.
JACOB SOBOROFF: There are seven different crash course
subjects from psychology to world history,
and they are all awesome.
They post weekly, and the newest one comes out tomorrow.
So subscribe and get knowledged.
This is the part of the show where you guys tell us
what to watch.
LENA THOMAS: Hi, YouTube Nation.
My name is Lena Thomas, and I'm in a new fantasy comedy web
series on YouTube called "Wish It Inc."
Ah!
What do you guys want?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Oh, nothing.
We're just checking up on you, darling.
MALE SPEAKER: See how you're doing
in the go-go world of ad sales.
FEMALE SPEAKER 2: Because you're such a ***.
JACOB SOBOROFF: Thanks, Lena.
