Hello, and welcome to the Style Series Elevate Your Style, where we will show you 5 ways
to take your everyday style to a new level. In case this is your first time with us, my
name is Aisha Jones, Owner, Creator, Part-Time Power Napping Champion, but Full-Time Fashionista,
and I will be walking you through each and every one of these very short style how-to
videos. Let’s get started.
As we’ve mentioned before, this particular style series is broken into 5 parts or 5 levels,
and it was really inspired by the idea that there are little things, little changes you
can make every day to up-level your style. Imagine if you were to go on a diet and you
decided to make the change from drinking regular soda to drinking diet soda – little things
that can yield big results. The same is true for your sense of style and your wardrobe.
Thus far, we’ve covered Levels 1 through 4, and today we are tackling the final Level
5: Head Accessories. Going up.
Here we are at the final level, Head Accessories. If you’ve seen the previous videos, you
know that we always start off with a very simple outfit many of us can be found in,
especially on the weekends: jeans and a t-shirt. We’re looking at ways to up-level our style
in this area, simple things you can do every day. In addition to this weekend uniform,
many of us can also be found in this weekend staple – yes, the baseball cap. I am guilty
of this too, because I love it. You just want to be incognito, blend into the background.
You can just put on a baseball cap and go run around and do what you need to do, although
we both know it is not the most stylish option. So what are some other things that we can
do instead of the baseball cap?
The very first option is really simple. It’s a headband. This one is a little bit more
unique; it has a little bit more interest in that it has a checkered black-and-white
print on it. The headband is great because it does the same thing as a baseball cap;
it pulls the hair away from your face, and it is a very quick way to add some style to
this outfit. You put on a headband and you can even then just stick your hair in a ponytail
or a bun with the headband on, and it looks really nice.
Another option is actually another type of hat. It’s just a knit hat or a knit beret,
and you can see this one has a very pretty, interesting knit print to it to make it a
little bit more interesting. More stylish than the baseball cap. Again, it can hold
hair away from your face. It’s still very comfortable, and there’s a lot that you
can do with your hair underneath to show. You can curl it and make it look really pretty
with this. But it’s another great, really stylish option.
Other simple things – when the hair is not working out, everybody knows my go-to is the
bun. That’s what I go to. A way to make the bun look even more stylish and more put
together is to have a very large, decorative barrette, as the one shown here in the picture.
You can just place it to the side of your bun or on top of the bun, and from behind
it just looks very put together and stylish and like a lot more thought went into your
look than it actually did. So this is a great option as well.
And last but not least, a scarf tied around your head. And I actually learned this trick
from Rachel Zoe. Everybody knows she’s a celebrity stylist. In her book, she actually
mentions this, and I did this on a flight recently from Miami, because you’re on the
plane, you’re falling asleep, you’re awake, your head is turning up against the headrest.
By the time you arrive at your destination, your hair is all over the place. So I just
tied a really pretty scarf around my head and I looked just as good when I got off the
flight in San Diego. So it’s a great trick. It also is a way to bring a lot of different
color to your face and get double duty out of the scarves that you already have in your
wardrobe. Great, great trick. And on the weekends, too, you don’t feel like doing your hair
or styling it – go to the scarf. You’ll be glad you did it.
So that is it. That is the way to up-level your style using head accessories, and this
is actually the end of this particular Style Series. So you’re going to want to make
sure to catch the next series that we will be announcing very shortly, and you can always
go back and look at the previous videos for Levels 1 through 5. Hopefully you’ve learned
some things that can help you up-level your style every day.
In closing, I just want to say – don’t hate, elevate, and start your style revolution.
Bye.
