There's what I call, the Universal House Rule about drawing, in most variance of five card
draw, and if you've ever played in a home game, five card draw. You've probably come
across this rule, and that's why I call it the Universal House Rule. It's that you can't
draw four, unless you have an Ace. Now, here's the thing. If you're playing in a tight game,
you don't need to have this rule. If you're playing in a small game, you don't need to
have this rule. This rule is about mathematics. If you are playing, say, eight handed, and
you've dealt. No, that wouldn't even work. Let's say you're playing seven handed, and
you've dealt five cards to everyone. You're going to have to have that house rule. As
a matter of fact, with seven handed, you're going to have to hope that somebody stands
pat, but what it means is, say you're playing six handed. Six times five, that's thirty
cards. Plus six times four, is twenty four, so you'd have to have this rule, but if you're
playing in a smaller game that is six players, don't worry about this rule. The way it works,
is if you want to draw a four, you have to show an Ace. If you don't have an Ace, you
can't draw four.
