Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about now is a good way
to keep our running backs and our wide receivers from being tackled. One of the ways we can
do that is that you never want to be a sitting target. If you ever go out and catch a pass,
you want to make that catch and be able to spin to the outside or the inside. You never
want to make that catch and curl up and just take the hit. We want to stay out of being
tackled. A lot of times when these defensive backs come running up, they'll come running
up with bad balance. If your guy spins out they're not going to be able to be broken
down to make a good tackle. They're usually going to run right by you and you can pick
up good yardage. We're going to walk through this right now (video demo). Our receiver
is going to come out, he's going to stop, he's going to turn around, he's going to receive
the catch and then we want him to spin as this guys coming in to make the tackle. We
want him to spin to the outside. When he makes the catch we want him to spin to the outside
to avoid this guy hitting him. Or, he can catch it and spin to the inside. He has to
read where the defensive back is going. You can kind of feel him coming up on you. Let's
do it at full speed (video demo). He caught the ball, he ran where the back was coming
from, when he caught it he spun to the outside, this guy was off balance and couldn't make
the tackle, and he picked up additional yardage. That's one good way of staying out of a tackle.
