Deciding what to wear to work is easy. All you need is 15 pieces. For those of you who
are not particularly interested with fashion but would still want to look fabulous every
day, let me introduce you to a concept that will be your new BFF: Capsule dressing. Now
that’s not when you take your pills then mush them into your Thanksgiving plate. There’s
an outpatient program for those of you that can relate to that last sentence. But capsule
dressing is just like it sounds. It is a small compact wardrobe that has many interchangeable
pieces that putting together outfits becomes a no-brainer. So while fashionistas envision
walking closets so large that it could also double as international space station, we
also know that being stylish can be accomplished with much fewer pieces. The elements of a
capsule wardrobe will depend on the dress code of your office. But for the standard
work office, that would require professional work attire, here are recommendations of building
a capsule wardrobe: First, you’ll need two 3-piece suits. A
woman’s 3-piece suit consists of a jacket, a skirt and a pair of pants. You want to buy
all these pieces together, in that way you can either wear the pants or the skirt. The
reason for buying the pieces together is that everyone has a different definition of colors.
All black is not even considered the same when you look at two different brands. I think
the eskimos were on the right track when they gave 14 different names for the color white.
Next you’ll need two dresses: one in a neutral color, and the other one is a more colorful
option. These dresses can be worn with the suit jackets and the cardigans that are going
to be contained in your capsule wardrobe. Next you’ll need one pair of jeans. Many
offices have casual Fridays so you’ll want to wear a great pair of dark denim jeans.
Dark denim look a little bit more professional for the office. You’ll also going to want
to avoid jeans with rips, tears or with hearts bedazzled on your bum. You don’t want to
be blinding your co-workers as you exit the conference room. The next one’s simple.
You just need one of these: a cardigan. You’ll need a great cardigan because sometimes you
can wear this instead of the suit jacket. The next one is a little bit more tricky.
You’re going to need about 8 – 12 different tops. But here’s the trick, the top needs
to go with every pair of pants and every skirt in your capsule wardrobe. So that is interchangeable.
And last but not least, you’re going to need a great winter coat. This is a must.
Goes like classic styles such as the trench coat or a pea coat. Get it in the neutral
color so that it will go with everything and be appropriate in every situation. Since you
are going with the classic style, it should be in style for years and years to come. So
you can spend more a little bit more for this item. This is what is known as an investment
piece in the fashion community. If you have all these items, then you should
have no problem deciding what to wear to work. These basic pieces are enough to start building
a proper work wardrobe. However, there still are shoes and accessories that you need for
your wardrobe. And those really could fill an international space station. In fact, I
think we may need to bring in the Russians to offset some of these costs. If you like
