Hello and welcome to my informational website on how to create and market your own
online course. Before I get too far into the information that's going to be covered, I
want you to know that in order to get the most benefit from my collection of information,
you will already want to have a background in the educational field. This is because
I'm not going to take you in-depth into online course design, which would easily fill up
a whole nother website. If you're wanting to create and market your own online course
and you don't have a background in education, I would suggest getting some type of
degree associated with the educational field. I suggest this mainly for two reasons: One, it will
be much easier for you to design courses with this knowledge in place, and two, because
your courses will have more appeal if you can truthfully say that you're certified to
teach the areas that your classes cover.
So...with that said, I'll let you know about my own background. As an undergrad I completed
majors in History and Geography and also went through the teacher certification program
to become certified to teach both content areas for grades 5 through 12. After teaching
in the classroom for a few years, I now work as a correspondence school advisory teacher,
which is really like an educational consultant for homeschool families. When you combine
my current job with the Master's Degree in Education with a specialization in informational
technology that I've been pursuing for the last year and a half, you can start to see
where my interest in creating and marketing online courses comes from.
Now on to the information that will be covered on this site. First we are going to learn
about initial start-up and getting organized, which is very important. After that we'll move on to general research
strategies about online courses and setting up a small business. Once we've gotten started
with that we will continue on with some critical decision making and a little more research. That will
be followed by course development, again we are just going to be going over the basics
of course development, and then we'll get to our last topic, which is marketing.
I'm glad you've chosen to utilize my information, please feel free to contact me with any questions
using the contact form that's located on this welcome page.
