Samuel: Hi, I'm Samuel. Today I was enjoying Chapter 7 of "The Economy of God," which is
entitled "The Functions of the Hidden and Inward Parts." So the Lord charges us in Mark
to love the Lord our God with our whole heart and with our whole strength. But in order
to do this, this requires the maintenance of our heart and there's four things that
are involved here. The first is that we need to have our heart turned to the Lord every
day. Second Corinthians 3:16 tells us "Whenever the heart is turned to the Lord, the veil
is taken away." Not only so, we need to exercise one function of our heart which is to believe
in the Lord Jesus. Romans 10:9-10 tell us that "with the heart there's believing unto
righteousness." Furthermore, like we see in Hebrews 10:22 we need to have our "hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience." This will take care of the matter of sin and accusation
before the enemy. And then finally, like we see from Ezekiel 36 we need to have our heart
renewed day by day. There's verses there that say the Lord will give His people "a new heart
and a new spirit." So this is the same heart, it's just been renewed by the Lord Jesus.
So daily we need to have this experience. so when we take care of these four things
then our heart can be activated to love the Lord Jesus, which fulfills the purpose and
the function of the human heart.
