Hello world~ I'm Stephanie Jennifer,
Certified Zentangle Teacher based in Singapore, and artist extraordinaire.
And I'm so excited to show you one of my new tangles, Naida.
Now, a little explanation behind why I chose the name, "Naida"...
Uhh.. In Greek mythology, the naiads were actually a type of water nymph
who presided over fountains, wells, springs, streams, and other bodies of fresh water.
And while I was contemplating what to name the tangle, I actually showed it to a friend of mine...
And he said he liked the name "Naida" the best because to him, it resembled how it would look like
if a water nymph stood in water, and how there would be ripples around her feet.
And here's how you draw Naida.
You're going to start off with a leaf shape.
Then, you're going to add a curvy "X" to the middle.
And then proceed to add auras inside.
However, the top and bottom sections of the tangle will end with a leaf shape.
The left and right sections of the tangle would just be filled with auras.
So that's how you draw the basic Naida tangle.
However, I'm just going to show you one of the ways that you can enhance it.
I'm just going to fill different sections of Naida with black ink,
and it's going to make it look so much more dramatic.
So it's just like drawing Striping; you're just alternating between black and white stripes.
And now we're going to cue the time-lapse...
It's really simple; really effective. And it adds so much drama to your tile.
So are you ready to draw with me?
We're going to switch back to real-time drawing and you can follow along as I draw Naida one more time.
This leaf shape isn't actually the only way to draw Naida...
It actually is a very versatile tangle, and I'm so excited to show you
the many possibilities that this tangle actually holds.
You can actually click the box on screen right now,
and it should take you to a blog post of mine that shows the many things that you can do with Naida.
If you're on mobile, the link is in the description box below.
