Need an excuse to drink more wine? Make some wine cork crafts! They often have beautiful
designs and typography, so they make great kitchen decor that's also functional! Like
this wine cork trivet!
Try to avoid using irregular, uneven shapes and use uniform ones like this.
Here I'm up cycling this old picture frame, but I still want to keep the photo, so I used
the back surface and removed the stand. You can find cheap wooden frames in any craft
store.
You'll also need a good box cutter or small pearling knife.
Cutting board or self-healing mat
Tacky glue or wood glue. That's it!
Make sure you have similar sized corks. And carefully cut them half lengthwise. Do this
slowly, to prevent uneven splitting or injury to yourself. It's a good idea to be sober
for this.
Cut as many as you need for your frame. I ended up using 12 corks for my 71/2 x 51/2
frame. Now go ahead and play around with the arrangement, before you start the gluing process.
There are so many ways to design it, it's all up to you!
Apply the glue mainly towards the middle section to prevent glue from seeping out later. And
stick them onto the frame, gently pressing down each time.
I recommend laying a book on top while it dries for at least 5 hours, but I recommend
overnight.
And now you have a two-in-one picture frame and trivet!
